Alliance Park Foundation, City to hold 'Lighting of the Fountain' 

Alliance, NE – A reminder that the City of Alliance Water Department is still in the process of updating water meter radios in residential areas that are regularly accessed by meter readers. Ordinance Number 2120 Section 28-199 can be referenced for information on authorized access.

The Water Department will only access properties during the business hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Employees will be wearing some form of high-visibility clothing and will be accompanied by a City vehicle.

Victory Underground to perform in Alliance 

CHADRON – Comedian Larry the Cable Guy will perform in Chadron March 2, 2025, at the conclusion of a six-week tour called Larry’s Nebraska Road Trip. The tour will offer fans live comedy, all-new material, and include special guest Nick Hoff. Proceeds after production costs will be donated to the CSC Theatre department.&nbsp;

The performance will be in Memorial Hall at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and will go on sale to the general public on Nov. 22 at&nbsp;<a href="https://chadronstate.hometownticketing.com/embed/all" target="_blank">https://chadronstate.hometownticketing.com/embed/all</a>.&nbsp;Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Athletic Offices in the Chicoine Center during normal business hours.

“I’ve spent a lot of time traveling the United States, but there’s nothing like sharing some laughs with folks in small towns across Nebraska,” said Larry the Cable Guy. “These people have been my biggest supporters, and I can’t wait to put on a great show and give back to the places that shaped me.”

Known for his rapid-fire one-liners, slapstick humor, and observations about life, Larry the Cable Guy rose to fame as a star of the blue-collar comedy phenomenon. His catchphrase “Git-R-Done!” became a cultural staple. His career has spanned stand-up comedy, acting, and film voice work.

Thursday night October 31, at approximately 10:45 pm a male was captured on video stealing a yard sign for a political candidate, yelling some disparaging comments, and then running off. This occurred at a residence on Mississippi Ave. The Alliance Police Department supports the rights of all citizens to feel safe and secure on their property, take part in the political process, and support candidates of their choice while remaining free from harassment, theft or other targeted behavior. City of Chadron Employees Association chili cook-off coming soon 

On Thursday, October 24, 2024, there will be a forum for the Alliance City Council candidates. The forum will run from 3:00-5:00 pm in the theater at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. Members of the public are welcome to attend and to submit questions for the candidates.

Since there are candidates running for both the two- and four-year terms, the forum will be held in two parts. At 3:00 will be the candidates running for the two-year term, with one person to be elected on November 5. Candidates are Chuck Frisch, Brenda Bishop, Jay Weisgerber, and Russell Saito. When that concludes, the candidates for the four-year terms will be questioned. Two of these people will be elected to City Council: Randall Hitchcock, Tamara Wood, John McGhehey, and Travis Turman.

Each candidate will have three minutes to introduce themselves, and will be encouraged to talk about their careers and their previous community activities. Then they will have two minutes to answer each question. All candidates will answer all questions in turn. Questions from the audience will be submitted to a panel for screening before being submitted to the moderator, former Mayor Earl Jones. There will be no questions regarding specific City personnel or issues that would not be controlled by City Council. However, candidates may be asked about facilities, departments, hours of operation, staffing, taxation, and spending.

The City Council Forum is not being organized by the City of Alliance. Individuals concerned about the City have stepped forward to plan this event. For those who cannot attend in person, the forum will be covered by Panhandle Post and The Alliance Times-Herald.
