Spring is here and the Hemingford track &amp; field team has had some great success so far this season, but it has also been a huge week for their Head Coach Josh Dean, who also is the Head Football Coach.

He was named as one of the assistant coaches for&nbsp;46th year for the West Nebraska All-Star Football Game. 

The 2024 football game will be played Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Bearcat Stadium in Scottsbluff. Coach Dean talked about being chosen to coach in that game, but also focused on the spring track &amp; field season. We also take a sneak peek at the 2024 Hemingford football season schedule of this edition of the Post Podcast.&nbsp;

The Alliance Bulldogs are coming off of a 2-7 season, where they showed considerable improvement, particularly under then first year head coach Tristen "T.D" Stein.

The former Chadron and Chadron State quarterback sat down with Panhandle Post Sports Director Alex Benzegala this week to talk about the new schedule, how the spring is going and changes with the team. Here is the Post Podcast conversation below.&nbsp;

Chronic absenteeism is a major problem at Alliance Public Schools according to administrators, and APS is holding an event to address it with the Alliance community.

On April 11, there will be an event called the Parent Power for School event at the Middle School, at 6 pm for families to challenge this issue.

Alliance Public School District holding event to combat absenteeism

Surrounded by friends, family and coaches, Alliance High School senior Ciara "CC" Hudson signed her National Letter of intent to play College Softball at Doane University on Thursday.

Doane is in Crete Nebraska and is a member of the GPAC, at the NAIA level.

Hudson had a stand-out high school softball career for the Bulldogs, helping Alliance turn around the program in her four years while also breaking school records in career hits, runs, walks, RBI's, doubles, triples and homeruns.

Hudson finished her senior season batting .378 AVG,  28  total hits 31 RBI’s and 8 home runs. More impressive are the obstacles she has had to overcome to reach this point.

"She's a very strong young woman who is very driven and has a lot of passion for the game," Palomo said.&nbsp;"I'm just super proud of her for what she has accomplished."&nbsp;

 CC Hudson signs to play college softball at Doane

Chadron State Junior defensive star Xavier Harrell will be in the mix for RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.&nbsp; He's a versatile football-seeking missile that finished second on the team in tackles last fall while playing several positions.

While his primary spot is linebacker, "X" will also line up as a standing rush defensive end, and was slotted into safety when injuries hit the unit hard last season.&nbsp; He's got the speed, athleticism and football IQ to handle all three spots successfully.&nbsp; But would Defensive Coordinator Clint Sasse try him out at say, nose tackle or CB1?

Spring practice is a little more fun and motivating when you look forward to a great match-up to start the fall season.&nbsp; For Chadron State and Harrell knowing the UNK Lopers are coming to our house to begin the 2024 campaign sends the excitement level even higher.

On Wednesday, March 20th, The NSAA State Speech Championships were held in Kearney, where Alliance High School had a strong showing.

Kalli Bridge, a Senior for AHS had a 4th place finish in one of her competitions, to medal for the Bulldogs.
