CHADRON — Chadron State College head women's wrestling coach Alijah Jeffery will
step down from his position to take a job at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, CSC
Athletic Director Joel R. Smith announced Monday.
"Alijah did a wonderful job starting up our program and creating a
winning culture," Smith said. "I believe we will get very competent
candidates to continue the growth of our program."
Jeffery was brought onto the Chadron State College women's
wrestling coaching staff in August 2021, as the inaugural head coach
of the brand-new NCAA women's wrestling program.
Jeffery has sent four wrestlers to nationals each of the previous two years and coached Kayley Garcia to the first regional championship in CSC Women's Wrestling history.
In 2022-23, CSC held a 6-2 dual record, including a 25-23 win over then
#2 ranked, University of Saskatchewan. The two losses were against
Colorado Mesa, who finished the NCAA Championships in fourth place as a
team.
A national search for the next CSC Women's wrestling head coach has already began.
