Alliance High School Senior Chase King has been playing baseball most of his life. Starting with the Alliance Old Timers youth leagues, through the Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth programs and for the last 5 years wtih the Alliance Spartan Legion teams. Chase will continue his baseball career after high school at Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota after signing a letter of intent Thursday.
Chase has been a valuable utility player in his baseball career. He has played both the infield and outfield and also pitched for the Spartans. Last season he played in 40 games and hit .307 with 20 runs batted in. On the mound, he appeared in 13 games, made 7 starts, and finished with a 3-0 record with 33 strikeouts in 50 innings. He will concentrate on pitching at Mount Marty. Chase was also a 2-way starter for the Alliance football team and a 3 year letterwinner and a starter this season, for the Bulldog basketball team. Chase says he is looking forward to finishing the basketball season strong and then playing a full baseball season this summer.
Mount Marty is an NAIA school and a member of the GPAC Conference. Chase is the son of Sharla and Dan King of Alliance.
