Fremont, Neb. — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a standoff in Fremont overnight Saturday into Sunday.
Saturday at approximately 11:00 p.m., Fremont Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of North L Street. During the response, officers became aware that the suspect was believed to be in possession of a firearm and that there were children and an adult female inside the residence. Multiple attempts to make contact with those inside were unsuccessful and the suspect barricaded the door. Fremont PD requested the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team to respond.
The SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators responded. At approximately 5:30 a.m. Sunday, the suspect voluntarily exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident. The adult female was located with minor injuries and was transported to Fremont Medical Center. The children were also located safely inside the home. There were multiple firearms found inside the home.
The suspect, Arturo Alvarez, 28, was arrested and turned over to the Fremont Police Department. He was lodged in Dodge County Jail for domestic assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, and obstructing a peace officer. The Fremont Police Department is the investigating agency.
