Hays Springs falls one point short in state title game

Hay Springs run to the state title game ended in a one-point loss to undefeated S-E-M in a 21-20 loss to the Mustangs at Foster Field in Kearney on Friday night.

The game came down to the wire with the Hawks scoring a touchdown on 4th and one with just 44 seconds left in the 4th, but S-E-M blocked the extra point to earn the win. Hay Springs star running back Gage Mintken rushed for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns on 29 carries in the loss.

Hay Springs started the season with an 0-3 record but bounced back to end 8-4.
