Alliance Girls compete in American Legion Junior Air Rifle Tournament

Alliance sisters,  Shelby and Ashley Carr, recently competed  in the first round of qualification for the American Legion Junior Air Rifle National Championship Tournament.  Shelby is a Senior at Alliance High School and Ashley is an 8th grader at Alliance Middle School. They are the daughters of Kari and Josh Carr of Alliance.

Qualifing was held in Alliance on January 16.  Shooters utilize a  .177 caliber air rifle and fire 20 record shots in 20 minutes from the prone position.  20 record shots, in 25 minutes,  in the standing position and 20 record shots, in 20 minutes, in the kneeling position.  The targets are 10 meters from the firing line.   After completing the three rounds of firing, Shelby's score qualified her to move on to the 2nd round of local qualifications.   Alliance American Post #7  Commander, Steve Stanec says ..."these will be held in Alliance in late March or early April at a time to be determined." 

Ashley Carr is in her first year of competing in the Legion Air Rifle program and Shelby is in her 3rd year in this program , but has been competing actively for 8 years as a member of the Box Butte County Guns R Us 4-H Club.
