Omaha political operative Precious McKesson is the new executive director of the Nebraska Democratic Party.

She replaces Jim Rogers, who took a job in the private sector, according to the party. State party chairwoman Jane Kleeb credited Rogers for helping build the party.

Kleeb said she was excited to bring McKesson home. McKesson was most recently working in Washington, D.C., as a special assistant in the Department of Education’s Office of Communications and Outreach.

McKesson is best known for being the 2nd Congressional District’s “elector.” She cast the formal Electoral College vote in 2020 for the Omaha-based district on behalf of President Joe Biden. Electors for Nebraska’s two other congressional districts and the state backed former President Donald Trump.

“I look forward to working closely with our Democratic candidates as we look to flip seats red to blue in Nebraska,” she said.
