🏐🥎 | Gering pitcher throws 16 K no-hitter; Tuesday's scoreboards

F| Chadron def. Scottsbluff, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 (3-1)

📋 Anika Burke (SR) led the Cardinals with eight kills and hit .304 on the night, plus she added in a pair of ace serves. Freshman Jaleigh McCartney notched five kills, and Macey Daniels hit six kills successfully for the Cards.  Defensively, Burke led with four blocks while McCartney and Kaycee Kittell had three apiece. Jacey Garrett led with a dozen digs.

F| Garden County def. Hay Springs, 25-7, 25-13, 27-25 (3-0)

F| Leyton def. Kimball, 24-26, 25-11, 25-19, 25-23 (3-1)

F| Mitchell def. Bridgeport, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17 (2-1)

📋 Josie Jenkins (SR) led the Tigers to victory with 15 kills on 45 attacks.  Trinity Penn and Marjie Schmitt each had four ace serves.

F| Mitchell def. Gordon-Rushville, 25-21, 24-26, 25-21 (2-1)

📋 Josie Jenkins (SR) also led Mitchell offensively against the Mustangs with a team-high dozen kills. Caani Banks (SO) racked up 11 kills and hit .222 for the match. Avery Hobbs (SR) served well with four aces; Jenkins added three.

🥎| High School Softball- Tuesday, September 1

F| Gering 6, Alliance 0

📋 Madeline Wiese tossed a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts in a dominating performance to give Gering its sixth win of the fall, 6-0 over Alliance.  Wiese threw 92 pitches in her seven inning gem, and did not walk a batter.  Shaylee Messersmith was Alliance's only base runner Tuesday night, reaching on an error.  Jada Schlothauer went 4/4 at the plate to lead Gering's 10-hit attack. Brylee Dean and Wiese doubled and tripled respectively.

F| Scottsbluff 17, Chadron 4

📋 Scottsbluff took advantage of a struggling Chadron defense in Tuesday night's 17-4 win.  The Cardinals committed eight errors leading to seven unearned runs.  Avery Fox led the Bearcats with a four-RBI night at the plate and was one of four Bearcats with two hits.  Chadron sophomore Josie Downing led the Cards with two hits including a double and an RBI. Allie Watson crushed a solo home run to lead off the first inning for Chadron.
