The Alliance High School Activities Hall of Fame will be inducting 6 new members later this year. The selection committee met this week and reviewed 44 nominations, which includes former AHS athletes, performers, coaches, sponsors, directors, contributors and alumni, who have made significant contributions to the activity programs.
The Hall of Fame inducted it's inaugural class in 2017 and was organized as a way to recognize and preserve the rich history and tradition of the successful activity programs at Alliance High School. The selection committee meets once a year to vote on new members. In order for a nominee to be inducted, they must receive at least a 75% majority vote from the selection committee.
After reviewing the nominations, the committee selected 6 former AHS athletes to represent this years class.
1974 graduate, Paul Stavropoulos: Paul was a 2-time State Wrestling Champion and an All-American his Senior year. He finished with a career record of 78-8, which included a 54 match winning streak.
2008 graduate, Kayla Freisen Coffee: Kayla was a three time Western Conference and two time District pole vault Champion. She capped off her career winning the Class B State Championship with a school record vault of 11'6". She was also a member of the 2007 AHS, Class B Girls State Basketball Championship team and participated 4 years in Cross Country.
1975 graduate Kevin Wilkinson. Kevin was a 3 sport athlete competing in football, basketball and track & field. He won state championships his senior season in the 100 and 220 yard dashes and the 4x880 relay. He still shares the school record in the 200.
2003 graduate Shelly Langemeier Eisenreich. Shelly was a four year letter winner in both cross country and track. She was a 2 time conference and district champion in cross country and a 2 time conference, best of the west and district champion in track. She was state champion in the 3200 as a sophomore. Her junior season she was state champion in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. She is the school record holder in both events.
2005 graduate Stacy Langemeier Girard. Stacy earned 12 letters in her high school career, competing in cross country, basketball and track & field. She was a 4 time state qualifier in cross country placing 7th as a junior. She was 2 time all conference in basketball and participated in the panhandle prep all star game. She was a 3 time state qualifier in track. She finished 3rd in the 800 her junior year setting the school record of 2.18.92. She was a state champion in the 800 her senior year.
1961 graduate Jim Kettlehut. Jim was a two time letter winner in football and a 3 time letter winner in basketball a well as an all big ten selection. He still holds the school record in the 800 and his time in the 800 was a state record in 1961. He was named the outstanding male athlete at AHS in 1960 and 1961.
This years class along with the class of 2020, Jamie Tomlin, Chad Thompson, Tracy Kelly and Dennis Girard, will be inducted in ceremonies to be determined at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a nomination may pick up a form at the AHS Administration office.
