CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Republican former U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis was elected to a Wyoming U.S. Senate seat while Republican Rep. Liz Cheney won a third term as Wyoming’s lone representative in the U.S. House.
Lummis beat Democrat Merav Ben-David, a University of Wyoming ecology professor.
Cheney beat Lynnette Grey Bull, a Northern Arapaho tribal member and Global Indigenous Council vice president.
It was Wyoming’s first election with women as the major-party congressional candidates.
Lummis and Cheney were both better-known and better-funded than their Democratic opponents.
Wyoming chose President Donald Trump over former Vice President Joe Biden in the presidential race.
