CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (AP) - A Central City man is dead following an accident just west of the Merrick County town.
The Grand Island Independent reports that the accident happened Friday afternoon on U.S. 30 when a Chevy Cobalt collided with a semi. The Cobalt driver, 44-year-old Eric S. Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi driver was uninjured. The semi was engulfed in flames by the time first responders arrived.
Authorities say the preliminary investigation showed that Johnson crossed the center line of the highway.
