Alliance SRs 7, Chappell (Buckley) 6
Alliance didn't stop scoring runs from the third inning forward and defeated Chappell on a walk-off in the bottom of the eighth Monday.
Trevor Dubray broke a 6-6 tie when his liner was mishandled in center field bringing in Caeson Clarke with two outs as the winning run.
Down 2-0, Alliance scored one run in each inning to finish the game except for the fifth when two came across the plate. The Spartans were outhit 12-7. The teams committed seven errors with four on the Chappell side.
JJ Garza allowed four Bombers hits in his 4+ innings of work, striking out seven and walking just one. Chase King pitched three innings and DuBray got the final two outs.
Chappell starter Corbin Murphy allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings but only two were earned. He walked four and struck out five.
Alliance SRs 7, Chappell (Buckley) 3
Alliance swept the twin bill with a big sixth inning in Monday's nightcap. The first three batters reached to load the bases when JJ Garza's sac fly brought Alliance to within 4-3. The Spartans added runs on back to back singles for a 7-3 lead with Joel Baker's two-run knock and Caeson Clarke following with an RBI. Jakob Callan contributed two RBIs in the win.
Trevor DuBray and Collin Schrawyer split duties on the mound for the win. DuBray went four innings to start and only gave up one hit. Schrawyer allowed only two hits and the combo struck out eight in the game.
By sweeping the doubleheader Alliance raises its season mark to 17-9. Chappell slides to 14-10.
Gering SRs 3, Casper 2
Two runs in the sixth won it for Gering to open a Monday doubleheader with Casper. Down 2-1 with an out, Riley Schanaman reached on an error and scored on Jack Franklin's RBI single that followed to tie the game. Franklin would come in to score on an error by the Casper catcher during the next at-bat to give Gering the 3-2 lead. Casper went down 1-2-3 in the seventh to end it.
Franklin pitched a complete game for the victory. He allowed four hits and struck out five without walking a batter.
Casper 12, Gering SRs 2
Casper salvaged a split of the double header with a 12-2 win in game two. Gering had a 1-0 lead before Casper scored three times in the third and never trailed again. They added seven in the fourth to go up 10-2.
Shane Taggart had a 4/4 day with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead the Casper batting order. Braden Barr had three knocks, scored twice and collected a pair of RBIs.
Anthony Walker allowed nine Casper runs in his 3 1/3 innings on the mound for Gering, however only three of those runs were earned. Both teams committed a pair of errors.
Cyler Lewis threw a complete game victory and struck out six, walked two and only gave up three hits to Gering.
Gering's summer record is now 12-8.
