Marjorie Jean Zimmerman, 88

Marjorie Jean Zimmerman, 88, passed away August 8, 2019 at Highland Park Care Center.

 

She was born on May 4, 1931 in Appleton, WI to George and Emma (Luenther) Zimmerman. As a child her family moved to Chicago, IL. There she met Robert DeVoogd and shortly after they moved to Hyannis, NE. Within a few years they relocated to Lincoln, NE where she would live raising her family and during her working career. In retirement years she moved from Lincoln to Alliance several times. During one of those moves she met Jim who would become her most cherished friend until his passing. She has resided in Alliance until the time of her passing.

 

Marjorie was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church’s, Women’s Auxiliary and the Red Hat Club.

 

Her survivors include her children, Pamela Anderson of Denton, NE, Thomas DeVoogd of Alliance and Steven DeVoogd of Lincoln, her grandchildren, Michele Weaver of Papillion, Danielle DeVoogd of North Platte, her great-grandchildren, Ally Porter DeVoogd of Dallas, TX, Brynnleigh Weaver and Kaden Weaver of Papillion. 

 

Her parents, her sister, Joyce and her grandson, Waylon DeVoogd preceded her in death.

 

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Alliance or Highland Park Care Center Memory Support Unit.

 

Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park. Colonial Chapel of Lincoln, NE is in charge of arrangements.
