KCOW 70: Muzzy Makes The Hall Of Fame

Posted Aug 13, 2019 12:37 PM

Nine years ago this week, the Nebraska Broadcasters Association inducted Mike Garwood posthumously into its Radio Hall Of Fame. Garwood, who died in 2007, was employed with KCOW for 32 years, including many years as General Manager.

The induction took place at a banquet in Lincoln. Joining Mike's family to celebrate his broadcasting legacy were then-KCOW General Manager Mike Fell, KCOW morning show host/Production Coordinator Jason Wentworth, former KCOW Interim Manager Mark Vail, and Eagle Communications CEO Gary Shorman.

Here is the video produced about Mike Garwood for the event, featuring recollections from Kevin Horn, Mike Glesinger, Fell, and the late John Jones.

Here are some photos taken by Wenty at the event (who apologizes for their general cruddiness):

Members of the Garwood family are joined by then-Governor Dave Heineman.

Mike's Hall Of Fame plaque, at his family's request, is displayed proudly in the lobby of the KCOW Studios on West 10th Street in Alliance.
