PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) — A man convicted of killing his longtime girlfriend in an Omaha suburb has been sentenced to decades in prison.
Omaha television station KETV reports that 57-year-old Alan Stack was sentenced Tuesday in Sarpy County District Court to 80 years to life in prison for second-degree murder in the November 2017 death of 51-year-old Beverly Bauermeister. Stack also received a 40- to 50-year sentence for using a deadly weapon.
Stack was convicted in May in a non-jury trial.
Police say Bauermeister may have lain dead in her home for a week before family members found her. An autopsy showed she had been beaten to death in her Bellevue home.
Court records show that in 2010, Bauermeister applied for a protection order against Stack, saying he had beaten her.
