Phyllis Ann Barker, 90

Phyllis Ann Barker entered into rest on July 6, 2019 in Apple Valley, CA.


She was born on July 5, 1929, in Alliance, to Daniel O. Hoppes and Daisy L. Hoppes. She graduated from Alliance High School. On January 11th, 1951 she married David L Barker in Mississippi where Dave was stationed in the Air Force. Their children David L. Barker Jr. (Butch) and Connie L. Clabaugh were born in Biloxi, Mississippi. After the military they moved back to Wyoming, then Portland, OR where their son Jack E. Barker was born.


Phyllis worked for Techtronics in Beaverton, OR. They moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked for Honeywell. They moved to California where she worked for Honeywell Avionics. They moved to Colorado where she worked for Honeywell again until she retired. At this time Phyllis and Dave returned to Alliance, Nebraska to live. From there, Phyllis had been living in California with her daughter and family.


Phyllis is survived by her son David Barker Jr. (Butch) and his wife Seetong, daughter Connie Clabaugh and her husband Al, son Jack Barker and his wife Susan, her grandchildren Alyson Clabaugh, Samantha (Barker) Epling and husband Chris, David Clabaugh and his wife Jennifer, and her great granddaughters, Kylie and Emily Clabaugh. Phyllis is also survived by her beloved extended family of loving nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband David L. Barker, Sr., her parents and brother Leo Hoppes and sister Martha (Hoppes) Templeton.


Phyllis’ life is measured by her many kindnesses, her caring and thoughtful ways….for she made an art of giving warmly…loving fully and staying young at heart!


A private memorial service will be held with Craig Steele officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Alliance Cemetery.

William "Bill" Joel Bye, 43

William “Bill” Joel Bye, 43, of Scottsbluff, passed away on September 4, 2019 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10th from 9 AM until 10:30 AM at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with the funeral to be held at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Bill was born October 25, 1975 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to William Bye and Betty Steeg. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1994. Bill worked as a farm laborer and loved to work on cars. He most enjoyed spending time with his son, Reid.


Bill is survived by his son Reid Bye, mother Betty Steeg, sister Staci Bye, brothers Scott Garvin, Steve Garvin, and Bryon Garvin, aunt Cathy Rotherham, uncle Guy Hoppe, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.


Bill was preceded in death by his father William Bye, grandparents Lester and Catherine Hoppe and Sherban and Sylvia Bye.
