The Alliance City Council met on Tuesday evening to discuss improvements that will be made to the Hal Murray softball complex.

The City of Alliance received four bids for the softball project. The bid was awarded to Wynne Contracting of Bayard in the amount of $105,278.69.

"I've had a couple of meetings with softball folks over the summer. This being my first year here, I've really understood that there's been some serious issues that need to be addressed out at the softball complex," said Jeff Sprock, City of Alliance Manager."Shana Brown, our Cultural and Leisure Services Director, worked with M.C. Schaff down in Scottsbluff to get a revamping of field B and D."

Sprock said there's been a lot of drainage issues at the softball complex, which shuts down softball activities.

"We got a contractor from Bayard that's going to come up and fix all of that and we might even have some extra money to do work on scoreboards and other things as well because the bid came significantly under what we were expecting," said Sprock.

Sprock relayed that this work will allow shortening up field B, which the high school team uses.

"They won't have to put the fence across anymore. We will have an official softball field out there so it will be great for the Lady Bulldogs." Sprock added.

This project is expected to begin soon.
