September 20, 2019 -- CHADRON, Neb. -- For the first time since 2006, the Chadron State volleyball team defeated the Adams State Grizzlies, winning in four sets Friday night, 25-23, 25-20, 17-25, 25-17. The victory improves the Eagles to 7-2 overall.

"Tonight was a total team effort," Head Coach Jennifer Stadler said. "We have been working on being purposeful in our touches and I thought we handled the ball really well."

The Eagles trailed 11-14 in the first set, before a 13-7 scoring run that fueled the team to victory. In set two, CSC never trailed. After starting set three up, 3-0, the Grizzlies scored five straight points and held the lead the rest the way. In the final set, a Rylee Greiman kill tied the score 2-2 and Chadron State never lost the lead after.

On the night, Greiman led the Eagles with 15 kills while hitting .220. Chandler Hagman also recorded double-digit kills with 12 and led the team with three blocks. Shelby Schouten hit a match high .308 with nine kills.

Three different players had double-digit digs for the Eagles, led by senior libero Ashton Burditt with 27. Greiman recorded a double-double with 20 digs to go along with her 15 kills, and Karli Noble finished with 10 digs.

Noble led both teams with four service aces.

As a team, CSC hit .174 compared to Adams State .169.

"Our defense did a really good job of reading and being patient for the ball," Stadler said.

The Eagles play Fort Lewis tomorrow at 6 p.m., in the Chicoine Center. The Skyhawks were swept by MSU-Denver Friday night.

"We will need to stay aggressive and consistent with our play for tomorrows match," Stadler said.
