Pat Hebbert, (1958 - 2019)

Pat Douglas Hebbert, age 61, of Ashby, Nebraska passed away, Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Monaco Care and Rehabilitation Center in Denver, Colorado.

Pat was born to Randall “Gene” and Gail (Michel) Hebbert on January 31, 1958, at Alliance. He was a life-long resident of the Sandhills, and attended Elementary School in Ashby. He graduated from Hyannis High School in 1977.


Pat was a member of the Grant County Roping Club winning the Year End High Point Heeler buckle in 1981. He was an avid trap shooter and made sure his nephews and nieces became gun owners and learned to shoot at a young age. In 1988 Pat made a trip to Vandalia, Ohio to compete in the Grand American trapshooting national competition.


Pat never knew a stranger. Whether he was well drilling with his grandad and uncle, working in hayfield, bartending, working cattle, working at the gas station, delivering fuel, delivering mail, attending a trapshoot, gun show, rodeo, auction, visiting on the phone, or simply met you along the road he always had time to visit. He was a rural mail carrier out of Hyannis for over 16 years.


Pat had a big heart and would do anything to help out anyone. He had a special soft spot in his heart for all children.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents; Albert and Ima Hebbert; and Louis and Ethel Michel.


Pat is survived by; 1 sister; Betty Jo (Jim) Leapley, of Coleridge, NE; 2 brothers; Clint (Suzy) Hebbert, of Ashby, NE; Mike "Sid" (Vicki) Hebbert, of Prescott, AZ; six nephews and nieces; Bill Leapley and Michel Leapley, of Coleridge; Gail Leapley, of Lincoln, NE; Katie Jo Leapley, of Coleridge; Ed (Kate) Hebbert, of Clay Center, NE; Joe (Makala) Hebbert, of Lincoln; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large circle of friends.


Memorial Services will be held, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Ashby Congregational Church in Ashby with Kevin Burton of Scottsbluff, NE officiating.

The family chose cremation. Interment will be held in the Ashby Cemetery.


Memorials are suggested to the Grant County Rescue Squad.
