Henry (Hank) Otto Taylor, Jr. (1947 - 2019)

On Friday, October 4, 2019 Henry (Hank) Otto Taylor Jr, loving father of eight children, passed away at the age of 72.


Hank was born on March 18, 1947 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to Henry and Goldie (Reeves) Taylor he was the only son of seven children. He attended Hay Springs Public Schools graduating in 1965. Hank enjoyed working around Hay Springs with his father as a mechanic and logger until he joined the Army National Guard in 1967. On January 28, 1970 Henry married Jann Wood and welcomed daughters Michelle, Gail, and Holly. On May 15, 1975 Hank married Margaret Johnson and they welcomed sons, Brian, Aaron, and Nathan. Along with daughters Amanda and Angela.


Hank had a passion for mechanics, fishing, and family. He combined those passions by teaching his family mechanics as well as spending time with them fishing. One of his greatest prides was watching his children and grandchildren grow. Hank started his mechanic career early working with his dad at the family repair shop located just north of Hay Springs, he will be remembered as a man that could fix almost anything. Hank retired from the Sheridan County Road Department in 2013 after 32 years of employment. Hank had an amazing sense of humor and was always willing to stop what he was doing to help a friend.


Hank was preceded in death by his father, Henry, mother, Goldie, sisters Bonnie, Virginia, and Sarah. He is survived by his eight children, Michelle (Mark) Keszler of Bridgeport, Gail (Willis) Byer of Bridgeport, Holly (Marcus) Widener of Bridgeport, Brian (Sara) Taylor of Chadron, Amanda (Mark) Haller of Rushville, Angela (Lonnie) Olsen of Black Hawk, SD, Aaron (Kayley) Taylor of Hay Springs, Nathan (Sunny) Taylor of Allen, TX. Along with sisters Elizabeth, Judy and Mary, several cousins, 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.


Memorial Services will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church - Hay Springs.
