One person has died and two were injured in a Dawes County vehicle accident.

On Oct. 10 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Chadron Fire and Rescue, Dawes County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol and Emergency Medical Services were called to assist in a vehicle accident on Highway 20 in Dawes County, approaching the Sheridan County line.

A preliminary investigation at the scene lead authorities to believe that an automobile driven by 20 year old Adam Hawk of Scottsbluff lost control on icy roads and rolled.

Hawk died as a result of the accident. 24 year old Roman Pesina and 20 year old Jacob Schaub, both of Scottsbluff were injured in the accident.

"Schaub was transported by Airlink to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff and Pesina was later transported by ambulance to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff," said Dawes County Attorney/Coroner, Vance Haug.

The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

"It is not yet known if speeding or alcohol were a contributing factor, though the investigation continues. Additional information may be released when appropriate," added Haug.
