Eagles take another five-setter from rival SD Mines

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The Chadron State College volleyball team won in five sets against South Dakota School of Mines Friday night, 19-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11.

 

The victory is the second time this season the Eagles have defeated the Hardrockers in five sets. With the win, CSC improves to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the RMAC. South Dakota Mines falls to 7-10 and 3-5 in the conference.

 

Senior Shelby Schouten led the Eagles with 17 kills, followed by Rylee Greiman with 14 and Chandler Hageman with 11. Schouten led the team with an attack percentage of .348.

 

Setter Tori Strickbine had 41 assists, followed by Kincaid Strain with 11.

 

Defensivley, five different players had double-digit digs. Ashton Burditt led CSC with 38, followed by Greiman with 21, Karli Noble with 18, and Strickbine and Hageman with 16 and 10, respectively.

 

Greiman, Hageman and Strickbine each finished with double-doubles.

 

Hageman was two blocks away from a triple-double with a team high eight blocks.

 

Dana Thomson had a match high 20 kills for the Hardrockers. Shyann Bastian had 49 assists. Jacey Koethe led SD Mines with eight blocks and Anna Thomas finished with 36 digs.

 

As a team, Chadron State hit .201 compared to the South Dakota Mine's .118


The Eagles return to action as they face Black Hills State tomorrow at 3 p.m.
