How ' Bout Those Eagles?! CSC sweeps rival BHSU to complete 10-set weekend

SPEARFISH, S.D. -- For the second night in a row, the Chadron State College volleyball team won in five sets on the road after defeated Black Hills State, Saturday night.

 

CSC won the first two sets, 25-23, 25-19, fell in the third and fourth, 22-25, 18-25 before winning the decisive fifth set, 15-11.

 

In set five, CSC finished on a 10-3 scoring run for the victory.

 

The win improves Chadron State to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in RMAC play.

 

The Eagles were led by Rylee Greiman with 15 kills, followed by Shelby Schouten with 14. Schouten hit .342 to lead the pair. Setters Tori Strickbine and Kincaid Strain each had 34 and 17 assists, respectively.

 

Defensively, Chandler Hageman led the team with 7 total blocks, while Ashton Burditt led with 40 digs. Four other Eagles had double-digit kills. Strickbine recorded 21, Strain and Greiman each had 17 and Karli Noble had 11.


 

As a team, Chadron State hit .213 compared to Black Hills .188.

 

Sierra Ward had a match high 20 kills for the Yellow Jackets. She was followed closely behind by Mariah Robinson with 18. Robinson hit .424.

 

Laurel Lech had 36 assists for Black Hills, followed by Tess Thomas with 27. Haedyn Rhoades, sister of CSC track athlete Harley Rhoades, had a team high 38 digs.

 

The Eagles return home next weekend, as they host Westminster College and Dixie State. Both matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
