State seeks hunter comments on duck zones and goose units

Posted Nov 25, 2019 12:19 AM

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has set a Nov. 30 deadline for public comments on potential changes to duck zone and goose unit boundaries.

Federal authorities allow changes to duck zone boundaries every five years, and Game and Parks has paired this with goose unit boundary changes.

Duck zones and goose units let states coordinate duck and goose migration patterns and hunter preferences with hunting season dates for different areas within states.

Hunters can find more information and provide input on the commission website.

Winter storm warning for western Nebraska, SE Wyoming, NE Colorado

DENVER (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for northeastern Colorado, southeastern Wyoming and western Nebraska, saying heavy snow in the region could hamper travel during Thanksgiving week.

The weather service says storms Monday through Tuesday afternoon could bring about 15 inches (38 centimeters) of snow to Cheyenne, 11 inches (28 centimeters) of snow to Denver and similar amounts to western Nebraska.

Meteorologist Kyle Fredin said Sunday the Denver area is forecast to see 6 to 8 hours of heavy snowfall starting late Monday that will cause significant travel impacts and possibly temporary road closures.

The agency says there’s a chance travel could become nearly impossible Monday night and Tuesday morning across the Interstate 25 urban corridor in northeastern Colorado and into Wyoming.

United Airlines announced Sunday it would waive the change fee for re-booking flights scheduled to leave Denver International Airport on Tuesday.
