Alliance Community Choir to present Christmas Concert

The Alliance Community Choir will present their annual Christmas Concert, “The Sounds of Christmas” on Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alliance United Methodist Church and again on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. 

The performance features the Alliance Community Choir with Gordon Hoff as Narrator, plus Peals of Joy, the United Methodist Church handbell choir, Alliance High School Senior Aubrey Garrett performing her original Christmas song, and Alliance Musician and Singer Robbie Cerv will perform “Silent Night” accompanied by Jim Settle on classical guitar.

The Choir is directed by Becky Mitchell and accompanied by Cynthia Horn on piano with Cheryl Lubash and Aiden Zaro adding percussion. Peals of Joy is directed by Merrily DeBusk. There is no charge to attend, but there will be a free-will offering.

Chadron Public Schools set to hire new Superintendent

The Chadron Public Schools Board of Education announced Friday, they have voted to negotiate with Mrs. Ginger Meyer for the position of Superintendent of Schools. Mrs. Meyer has been Superindentent at Scribner-Snyder Community Schools since 2011.

The Board, along School Administrators, Staff and Community Members all met with Mrs. Meyer through the interview process. She was also given a tour of the facilities.

The Board of Education will ratify Mrs. Meyer's contract at an upcoming meeting. The Board thanks all who were involved for their input, and they welcome Mrs. Meyer her husband Deron and their 2 children, Nia and Tobin, to the Chadron community and School District.
