CSC hosting Mental Health Conference March 10

CHADRON – Chadron State College will host the Western Nebraska Mental Health Conference, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Student Center. More information and registration materials are available at the conference’s website. Registration is open until March 1. Tickets are $25 and include lunch.

Dr. Mark Sander, Director of School Mental Health in Hennepin County, Minnesota, is the keynote speaker. He will present Developing Comprehensive School Mental Health Programs using the Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework, from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m.

From 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., a variety of breakout sessions will take place including topics such as foundations in school mental health, student mental health risk and protective factors in western Nebraska, 504 Plans, promoting positive school climate through podcasting and social media, and social emotional development through school counseling.

Beginning at noon, a roundtable session will feature topics such as social media and youth, grief, brain Injury, student mental health risk and protective factors, building school mental health, 504 Plans, mental health in schools, and Hope Squads.

A panel discussion will follow the roundtable discussion at 1:45 p.m.
