The Chadron State College High School Invitational track and field meet, which was scheduled for Saturday, March 21, has been canceled. No makeup date is set at this time.

The CSC track and field coaching staff will be in touch with high school coaches regarding any further details.

Chadron State's current Mid-Term Break was extended on Friday until March 22, in light of public health recommendations regarding the COVID-19 virus, and the NCAA placed a mandatory dead period on recruiting that extends through April 15.

RMAC, Chadron State spring sports seasons cancelled

By: Dave Collins, Eagle Radio Chadron Sports Director

The Chadron State College spring sports season is over.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has just announced that the league is canceling the remainder of spring competitions and travel.

The announcement covers only competition and travel, which at this time indicates practices are not included in the cancellation.

Other conferences nationwide have also made similar moves in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) scare by canceling or suspending spring competition and post-season events.

Chadron State softball will finish the season 10-13 and will lose out on a total of 28 games, plus a possible RMAC Tournament berth.

CSC women's golf had two tournaments plus the RMAC Championships remaining that will not be played.

The CSC outdoor track-&-field season will not even get the chance to compete - losing out on all seven meets on the slate, plus the NCAA Championships.

It's still unclear from the RMAC as to the status of spring football practice limitations, cancellation or proceeding as scheduled.  Institutions and the league are likely still hammering out those details and deciding how to proceed.

We will continue to monitor this development and update this story as more details are released.  The RMAC is expected to have more details on plans moving forward.

Here is the full release from the RMAC sent out Friday late-afternoon.
