Chadron man arrested for DUI after hitting a parked car with motorcycle

A Chadron man has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol  after hitting a parked car with his motorcycle. 

On Saturday, May 30 at approximately 5: 50 p.m. Chadron police were dispatched to watch for a motorcycle coming into town from East of Chadron on Highway 20 swerving across the lanes of traffic.

Officers observed the motorcycle in the area of 3rd and Shelton Street. They witnessed that the motorcycle had struck and damaged a parked vehicle near there.

Sgt. Wallage conducted a DUI investigation for alcohol impairment and subsequently arrested 40 year old Ty J. Huss of Chadron.

Huss was discovered to have an extensive driving and criminal history for prior felony DUI alcohol offenses.

"Huss was ultimately arrested for 3rd Offense DUI alcohol (Class IIIA Felony, Refusal of a chemical test (Class IIIA Felony, felony driving on a revoked/suspended license (Class IIA Felony," said Tim Lordino, Chadron Police Chief. "Further charges of no insurance, no registration, fictious plates and refusal of a preliminary breath test are pending."

Sgt. Wallage extends an appreciation and thanks to the citizen who reported this incident which led to the arrest of Huss and a thanks to the public in general for reporting drunk drivers and keeping other motorists on the road safe.
