North Platte man accused of stealing, crashing vehicle

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-North Platte Police have released more information regarding the crash of a stolen vehicle on Thursday evening.

At around 5:57 pm, officers responded to the area of West E and Willow Streets and the report of a stolen vehicle.

A female had called police and reported that her vehicle had been stolen by Austin Bordeaux.

A short time later, at around 6:04 pm, officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle injury accident at Rodeo Road and Franklin Road.

Police say witnesses reported that the vehicle driven by Bordeaux failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound vehicle on Rodeo Road.

Officers took Bordeaux into custody on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking ($1,500 to $5,000, driving under the influence of liquor (over .15, 3rd offense) and driving under suspension.

Bordeaux and the occupants of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries.

Bordeaux was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
