PARIS (AP) — A French nun who is believed to be the world’s second-oldest person is celebrating her 117th birthday in style after surviving COVID-19.

The care home in southern France where Sister André lives organized a packed schedule of events for the nun on Thursday. There was Champagne and red wine, a birthday feast, a Mass in her honor, and other treats to fete her longevity through two world wars and a recent coronavirus infection.

The birthday girl said the festivities "made me very, very, very, very happy."

After an afternoon nap, Sister André enjoyed her baked Alaska, her favorite dessert, served with three candles and the numerals 117 on top.
