Chadron State opening up Chicoine Center to fans for Tuesday's games

Pending both teams' successful Covid testing, Chadron State College and Black Hills State are slated to play a men's and women's basketball doubleheader beginning on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale to the general public, and will be sold until the arena reaches a limit of 800 spectators. The website to purchase tickets online can be found at ChadronEagles.com/tickets. Admission may also be purchased beginning at 4:30 p,m. from the Chicoine Center ticket booth.

CSC students and employees may attend and sit in the general admission section at no cost with a valid Campus ID. Reserved seats will incur an additional cost. Immediate family of CSC faculty and staff will also be admitted in the general admission section at no cost as long as they attend with the employee.

Anyone attending an event or using a CSC facility must follow the college's Face Covering Policy, wear a mask, and maintain social distance.

The South Dakota Mines women beat the Lady Yellow Jackets 66-50 on Saturday night in Rapid City. The BH women are now 6-4. The halftime score was 38-26. 

The Mines men also won, 79-78 on a free throw by Alejandro Rama with four seconds left, giving the Hardrockers they second one-point win after they edged the Eagles 60-59 in overtime on Thursday night.  Mines led BH 37-35 at halftime. The BH men are now 3-3 .

The Black Hills women are 6-3. They lost their season opener at Western Colorado and won six games in a row before losing at Colorado Mesa 65-58 on Jan. 9 and to Western Colorado 70-61 in overtime at home on Saturday night.

Their standout is 5-9 senior Racquel Wientjes, who is averaging 23 points and 6 rebounds. She has tallied at least 28 points four times this winter. Morgan Ham, a 6-1 senior, is averaging 16 points. 

The Black Hills men haven't played since Jan. 4 when they lost 85-83 in overtime to 8-0 Colorado Mines in Spearfish. Joel Scott, a 6-7 sophomore is averaging 17.5 points and Trey Whitley, a 6-1 senior, is averaging 14.5 for the Jackets.

CSC's women's team is 0-6 coming off a close loss to South Dakota Mines in Rapid City last Thursday.

The CSC men are 3-4, all in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Two of their losses have been in overtime, and a third loss came against Colorado School of Mines, now the nation's top-ranked team.
