Visitors looking for ideas and inspiration to explore the Cornhusker State can now get their hands on the official 2026 Nebraska State Travel Guide.
The new guide highlights events and festivals, attractions organized by region and city, and scenic byway road trips across the state. Designed for both first-time visitors and returning travelers, the publication features vivid photography, descriptive storytelling and light humor to appeal to a wide range of audiences, from families and solo travelers to history buffs, outdoor enthusiasts, food lovers and shoppers.
This year’s edition also places a special emphasis on history in recognition of America’s upcoming 250th birthday. Readers will find Nebraska-focused trivia and a timeline highlighting notable events, influential figures and historic sites throughout the state, including references to well-known Nebraskans such as “Buffalo Bill” Cody and author Willa Cather.
The cover of the 2026 guide features original artwork by Lincoln artist Katie Nieland. The illustration showcases several iconic Nebraska attractions, including Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, the Lincoln Highway, Nebraska wildlife, dark night skies recognizing Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area as Nebraska’s first International Dark Sky Park, Carhenge, Chimney Rock and the Cowboy Trail.
“We’re thrilled to release the new travel guide each year, and this edition is especially fun to share,” said Jenn Gjerde, marketing manager for Visit Nebraska. “It’s full of new photos and an added focus on Nebraska’s rich history and heritage. Plus, we’re especially proud that this year’s cover showcases original artwork from a Nebraska creator, a real, human touch that reflects the spirit of the places and people that make our state unforgettable.”
According to Visit Nebraska, the travel guide has been distributed to all 50 states and numerous countries in recent years, helping support a tourism industry that contributes $5.6 billion to Nebraska’s gross domestic product, supports more than 41,000 jobs and generates more than $1.1 billion in annual wages.
The 2026 Nebraska State Travel Guide is available for free and can be requested online, with a digital version also available for download. Printed guides can also be found at visitor centers and tourism destinations throughout the state.
