Forward Josh Robinson scored 24 points and guard Bryce Latimer added 21 as the Chadron State Eagles scored 44 points in each half while downing the Colorado Christian Cougars 88-76 on Tuesday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest in Chadron
CSC led by four points at halftime and never trailed in the second half.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Eagles who are now 13-8 for the season and 10-5 in the conference. The 13 wins are the most for a Chadron State team since 2011-12.
With Robinson making nine of 11 field goal shots and Latimer hitting eight of 12, the Eagles were 31 of 55 from the field for 56.4%. Guard Jarrett Taylor was four of six from 3-point range for his 12 points. All the other regulars contributed at least seven points.
Colorado Christian also shot the ball well. The Cougars were 28 of 55 from the field for 50.9%, including nine of 22 from behind the arc. They also made 11 of 12 free throws. Chadron State was 19 of 22 from the line.
Isaiah Alonzo, a 6-foot-10 graduate student, led the Cougar in scoring with 19 points while going 8-11 from the field. Guards Jason Gallant and DJ McDonald were both three of seven on threes and tallied 17 points apiece.
Chadron State Coach Shan Paben said he was pleased with his team’s intensity, and noted that must continue as the Eagles play their final seven regular season games in the next three weeks. They’ll be back in action Thursday night when Western Colorado visits the Chicoine Center.
