Scottsbluff High School is 18 holes away from a girls state golf championship! The Bearcats carded a team total plus-66 in Monday’s Opening Round at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering.
· Sophomore Anna Kelley is four shots behind the leader from Elkhorn North. Kelley fired a nine-over 81 Monday. Gering’s Madelyne Schlaepfer is a stroke behind Kelley in 3rd place at ten-over par. Chadron’s Maddy Pelton is in fifth place with an 88 opening day score, 11 shots behind the leader.
· Scottsbluff had three golfers in the day one top ten…Gering is in 6th place in the team standings…Alliance sits last (12th) and was led Monday by Regan Lambert’s 112.
· Kimball sits in 10th and Mitchell 14th in the Class C State golf event in Columbus…Kimball junior Peyton Wise is in a 3rd-place tie going into Tuesday's final round after carding a 10-over par 82 Monday.
· Brooklyn Briggs is the Mitchell High School top golfer so far with a 96 Monday – good for a 24th-place tie. Another 18 holes Tuesday will decide the state golf champions in both classes.
