Lincoln police make multiple arrests in year's 1st homicide

LINCOLN, Neb.-Lincoln police said they have made multiple arrests while investigating the city's first homicide of 2022.

On Thursday at around 6:30 a.m. officers responded to the report of two men fighting in the 2800 block of F. St. 

Officers arrived and found a 57-year-old man who was unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at a Lincoln hospital.

Police said a Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputy saw the suspects get into two different vehicles at the U-Suds, 946 S. 27th St., and was able to initiate a traffic stop on both vehicles. 

Following further invstigation, three people were arrested:

-Derrick Pearson, 31, Lincoln, on suspicion of manslaughter and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

-Briana Jelinek, 31, Lincoln on suspicion of manslaughter and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

-Micah Berggren, 25, Hickman, on suspicion of 2nd-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
