Nebraska interim head coach Mickey Joseph,  announced Sunday that defensive coordinator Erik Chinander was fired a day after Nebraska gave up 580 yards and 49 points in a lopsided loss to No. 6 Oklahoma. Chinander had led Nebraska’s defense since Scott Frost took over the team in 2018.  The Cornhuskers are currently 1-3 on the year.  Coach Joseph issued this statement on Sunday....

“We appreciate Erik and the work and dedication he has given to our football program,” Joseph said. “At this time, I feel that it is in the best interest of the Nebraska Football program to take the leadership of the defense in another direction and decided Bill Busch will take over as defensive coordinator.”

This announcement comes one week after Head Coach Scott Frost was let go following a 49-42 loss to Georgia Southern.

Nebraska has a bye week this weekend and will host Indiana, Saturday October 1 in their Big 10 opener.
