COLORADO SPRINGS -- April 8, 2021 -- Chadron State College volleyball student-athletes Chandler Hageman, of Chadron, and Lexi Hurtado, an Aurora, Colorado, native were named as honorable mention picks in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Conference release at rmacsports.org.
Honorable mention goes to players receiving either a minimum of one first team vote, in a poll of the league's coaches, or multiple second team votes.
Hageman, a senior, led CSC in total blocks during the January-to-March season, which was delayed from fall 2020. She totaled 105.0 points on a team-high 14 solo blocks, 32 block assists, and 71 kills, for an average of 1.98 points per game. She also led the team in hitting percentage at .208 on the season.
Hageman also earned All-RMAC Second Team in 2019.
In her sophomore season, Hurtado led the Eagles on offense with a team-best 111 kills, good for 2.13 per set, and 17 service aces. She added 16 total blocks for a 2.62 points-per-set scoring average. In one match at Black Hills State, on February 13, she recorded a career-high 24 digs. Hurtado finished second on the team in that category with 2.15 digs per set.
The RMAC coaches voted Maddi Foutz of Colorado Mesa University as the Player of the Year. Defensive Player of the Year went to Haley Kennedy of Regis University. The Setter of the Year was Drew Strokes from Colorado School of Mines. Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year both went to Colorado Mesa, with setter Sabrina Valdelist and head coach Dave Fleming taking the superlatives.
