Chadron is looking for a split on opening day of action at the annual Gering Memorial Day Weekend American Legion Baseball Tournament at Oregon Trail Park.
Friday morning, Chadron's Post #12 seniors dropped an 11-1 decision to Torrington, and will face Buckley next to cap Friday's pair of games. Torrington used two big innings to earn the win, scoring five runs in each of the third and fifth.
Chadron was held to just two hits and scored its lone run on an error in the second inning. Kobe Bissonette tripled. Defensively, five Chadron errors helped the Tigers continue their offensive success.
Chadron faces Buckley shortly after the first game and the tournament continues over the holiday weekend with several regional teams.
