SCOTTSBLUFF, NEB.&nbsp; — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a multi-county pursuit in the Nebraska Panhandle.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. MT, NSP received information about a stolen vehicle that was believed to be traveling eastbound on Highway 92, just east of Gering. A trooper located the vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, and observed it to be speeding. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and accelerated to over 110 miles per hour. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit continued eastbound on Highway 92 for approximately 20 minutes with the suspect driving in the wrong lane of traffic several times. As the suspect vehicle approached Bridgeport, it slowed its speed. Another trooper was able to successfully deploy stop sticks to further slow the vehicle. As the vehicle traveled through Bridgeport, the driver struck a parked vehicle and several mailboxes and came to a stop near the intersection of 5th&nbsp;Street and P Street.

The driver was then taken into custody without further incident. The driver, Jeremie Steen, 32, of Scottsbluff, was arrested for theft by unlawful taking $5,000+, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, criminal mischief $5,000+, no operator’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana – less than one ounce, and numerous traffic violations. He was lodged in Scotts Bluff County Jail.

According to Chadron Police Department, the missing person has been located and he is safe.

During the morning hours of January 16, 2025, the Chadron Police Department took a report that 28-year-old, Blaine Murphy took off walking near the 1200 block of West Highway 20. The report indicated Murphy may be having some mental difficulties. Officers began searching for Murphy, but were not able to locate him in the area or around the Chadron community. Later in the afternoon, Murphy was reported as missing by the reporting party.

As of this time, Murphy has still not been located. Murphy is reported to be 6 foot 4 inches tall, slender build, with blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a Gray Beanie, Gray Jacket and jeans. He may have his dog with him, which is a black and Gray blue healer mix.

We are asking for anyone who may have seen Murphy in the last 24-hours to call the Chadron Police Department and provide details of the sighting. Also, if anyone has any information as to where Murphy may be or where he may be headed to contact the Chadron Police Department at 308-432-0510. It is not known what state of mind Murphy may be in due to the reported mental difficulties, so if he is seen, please contact your local law enforcement agency for assistance.

City of Alliance reminds citizens of phone call utility scam

At approximately 3:55 AM this morning, the Sidney Police Department was involved in a vehicle pursuit. An officer traveling southbound on 11th Avenue observed a van strike a street sign near Creast View Apartments, nearly colliding with the officer's vehicle. The van then accelerated northbound on 11th Avenue at a high rate of speed, estimated to exceed 90 miles per hour.

The officer activated emergency lights and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit concluded when the suspect vehicle collided with the Rolling Pin Bakery and Sonny's Super Foods. The officer immediately rendered medical aid to the driver and requested assistance from Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department.

The Sidney Police Department adheres to strict pursuit policies, emphasizing a thorough risk-to-benefit assessment before engaging in a pursuit. In this instance, the driver demonstrated a disregard for public safety prior to police involvement, having already collided with a street sign.

During the pursuit, the officer requested supervisor notification, and provided updates on traffic conditions and safety concerns. The entire incident, from initial contact to the vehicle collision, lasted less than 60 seconds.

The Nebraska State Patrol has been requested to conduct an accident reconstruction using drones. The incident remains under investigation. Officers will be canvassing the area to gather any available video footage.

We are also compiling a list of any other objects that may have been struck by the suspect vehicle prior to police contact. Public Input Events being held for Box Butte County’s 30-Year Comprehensive Plan

Chadron – Chadron State College remains a key driver of economic prosperity in Nebraska, contributing to individual student success as well as the vitality and sustainability of rural communities and the state according to a recent economic impact study by Lightcast for the Nebraska State College System (NSCS).

“These findings underscore the vital contributions Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges make,” said Dr. Paul Turman, Chancellor of the NSCS. “Behind every statistic are real people—students, alumni, and workers—who are helping Nebraska thrive.”

Chadron State College generated a total economic impact of $456.3 million during the 2022-23 fiscal year. CSC’s contributions support 6,227 jobs statewide, bolster businesses, and equip students with skills to enter high-demand and high-paying careers, according to Lightcast. The study highlights the influence the college has on the state’s economy through its operations, student spending, construction, and alumni contributions.

CSC added $34 million to Nebraska’s economy through payroll, local spending, and business activities. Out-of-state and in-state students, through groceries, transportation, and other household expenses, added $3.1 million in income while supporting 48 jobs. Spending on construction&nbsp;projects generated $977,900 in income, supporting 12 jobs. Thousands of alumni contributed $418.3 million to the economy by meeting workforce needs and productivity.

The report indicates that CSC delivers significant returns on investment for students, taxpayers, and society. For every dollar students invest in their education, they can expect $5.20 in higher future earnings. Taxpayers see a $2.30 return for each public dollar invested, and society benefits eightfold, with $551.7 million in total social benefits, including increased income, business output, and public savings.

Report includes details about CSC’s economic impact

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. -﻿&nbsp;Western Nebraska Community College received a $15,000 donation from the Nebraska Public Power District.

The funds were raised from the 33rd annual Wells Fargo Nebraska Open golf tournament in September. WNCC's share of $15,000 will be distributed evenly across the Alliance, Scottsbluff, and Sidney campuses.&nbsp;

NPPD has raised more than $2 million for the Nebraska Community College Foundation since the tournament's inception in 1992, all donated to Nebraska community colleges. The tournament has now raised more than $400,000 for WNCC alone. The three-day tournament includes an 18-hole, Pro-Am scramble tournament, and a 54-hole professional tournament.&nbsp;

"On behalf of WNCC, I would like to thank NPPD for its continued support of the community college&nbsp;system and WNCC in particular," WNCC President Greg Dart said. "The annual&nbsp;gifts have had a positive impact on the success of our students and businesses in our service area as our graduates enter the workforce."

Last night, Jan. 22, the Scottsbluff Police Department obtained two arrest warrants for suspects in the murder of Wyatt Reeb (15). Both male suspects were located at a Scottsbluff home in the 1500 block of Cowen Drive. The suspects were taken into custody without incident. 

The two suspects arrested are; Devante D.A. Castellaw (17) and Corey T. Rotherham Jr. (16) both of Scottsbluff. Both suspects were charged with Murder in the Second Degree (Class IB Felony) and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony (Class II Felony)  The Scottsbluff Police Department is continuing its investigation into this case and will provide updates when available.

2 suspects arrested in Scottsbluff murder 



Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska LEAD Program Class 42 recently returned from an impactful International Study/Travel Seminar to Romania, Hungary and Poland, held from January 3-17, 2025. The two-week journey provided 28 fellows with an immersive opportunity to explore the historical, cultural, religious and agricultural dimensions of these Eastern European nations.

“The International Study/Travel Seminar is a cornerstone of the Nebraska LEAD Program, offering Fellows an invaluable global perspective that enhances their leadership skills and understanding of agriculture in a global context,” said Kurtis Harms, Nebraska LEAD Program director. “This year’s visit to Romania, Hungary and Poland provided meaningful experiences and connections that will undoubtedly shape our Fellows as future leaders.”

The seminar featured a diverse itinerary, including visits to farms, businesses and historical sites. Highlights of the trip included:

“Visiting these countries opened my eyes to the shared challenges and opportunities we face in agriculture,” said LEAD 42 Fellow Jake Werner, a senior merchandiser with ADM. “Seeing how farms in Romania and Poland operate and hearing their stories inspired me to think differently about how we approach our agricultural systems back home. The visit also helped me appreciate the local and international markets we have in the United States.”

Fellow Michelle Bose, a farmer and closing agent with Dvoracek Title, added, “Walking through Auschwitz-Birkenau and Schindler’s Factory was an emotional experience that deepened my appreciation for the resilience of humanity and the importance of leadership grounded in empathy and understanding.”

The Nebraska LEAD Program continues to prepare agricultural leaders for tomorrow through its comprehensive leadership development curriculum. The International Study/Travel Seminar serves as a capstone experience, equipping participants with global perspectives that enrich Nebraska’s agricultural and rural communities.

“One of the most important factors in becoming a good leader is being able to get outside of your bubble or your comfort zone and experience life through the eyes others,” said Director Harms. “This enhanced understanding of people and cultures around the world hopefully lead to better decision-making and greater relationships with others.”

Nebraska LEAD Program Explores Eastern Europe During International Study Travel Seminar

The Scottsbluff Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the murder of Wyatt T. Reeb (15) of Scottsbluff. 

The homicide occurred on the night of January 20, 2025 at approximately 10:25 pm. 

Detectives with the Scottsbluff Police Department, along with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol and the Gering Police Department, have been actively investigating this incident since the night of the 20th.

 Again, the Scottsbluff Police Department would ask that any citizens that may have video, or information, from the area of the 1200 block to the 1600 block of 5th&nbsp;Ave or the area between 1st&nbsp;Ave and 7th&nbsp;Ave along E. Overland to notify the department.

Scottsbluff police conducting homicide investigation on teen 

In Box Butte County District Court Wednesday, Judge Travis P. O'Gorman issued sentencing in the case of Nebraska vs. Jacob Zier, 34, of Alliance.&nbsp; Zier, who attended the sentencing via video conference, burglarized the Alliance Mission Store on September 13, 2024.

Judge O'Gorman sentenced Zier on one count of attempted burglary, a Class 3-A felony, to 364 days in the Box Butte County Jail, minus 142 days previously served.

Following his release, Zier will be subject to nine months of post-release supervision.

CHADRON, Neb. – Darrius Miles scored 21 points, Trey Ballard came off the bench to score 17 and the Chadron State men's basketball team got back to winning ways with a 71-59 victory over Westminster at the Chicoine Center Thursday night. 

The Eagles improved to 8-9 overall and 4-5 in RMAC play with the win. Westminster dropped down to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in conference.

Miles, a 6-foot-11 center from Texas, shot 8 of 11 from the field and stepped out to hit 3 of 4 three-pointers. Thursday marked Miles's second-highest point total of the season behind a 22-point game against Central Christian back on December 16. In addition to his 21 points, Miles added seven rebounds and two blocks.

Ballard has now scored in double figures in four consecutive games and has eight games with 10 points or more this season, all coming off the bench. Ballard shot 6-for-10 from the field and also hit three three-pointers. 

Zy Wright added 15 points for the Eagles while Jalen Thomas chipped in eight and Julio Phipps seven. Phipps racked up a game-high 10 rebounds and also finished with four assists, a block and a steal. 

Chadron State finished with 15 assists and only nine turnovers, just the third time this season CSC has finished with under 10 giveaways. The Eagles shot 50.9 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three (8-18) and 69 percent from the line (9-13). 

By contrast, the Eagles limited Westminster to 40 percent shooting and 31 percent from behind the arc. The Eagles played tenacious defense throughout the contest, using a zone defense at times and often forcing the Griffins to use up much of the shot clock before taking a contested shot.

The two teams traded points early, with Westminster taking a 5-2 lead early. Chadron State went inside with three straight layups from Miles, Wright and Jalen Thomas to take a 10-7 lead. Westminster hit a three to tie the score, but Wright answered 30 seconds later with a three of his own to make it 13-10, CSC. The Eagles led the rest of the way. 

Wright's three kicked off a 17-2 run that allowed the Eagles to build a 15-point lead, featuring additional threes from Miles (twice) and Ballard. Chadron State's largest lead of the game came with 3:37 left in the first half as a Miles jumper put the Eagles up 38-21. 

Westminster rallied, closing the half on an 11-2 run to go into halftime down by only eight at 40-32. The Griffins would cut the lead to as close as five points at 49-44 with 14:12 left to play, but after a Jalen Thomas jumper put the Eagles up by 11 with 9:16 to go, the lead never got below double digits again.

Chadron State will have a tough test coming up in Colorado Mesa (11-6, 5-4 RMAC). The Mavericks have won seven in a row after a 4-6 start and defeated Black Hills State on the road in overtime on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Chicoine Center.

CHADRON, Neb. – After a first half where neither team shot the ball well, Chadron State women's basketball was much more effective in the second half to pull away from Westminster and snap a seven-game losing streak with a 63-43 win Friday at the Chicoine Center.

The Eagles were 0-for-15 as a team from three-point range in the first half when point guard Kyra Tanabe launched a deep three to beat the first-half buzzer that bounced off the backboard into the hoop and tied the score 20-20 heading to halftime. Tanabe's shot seemingly unlocked the hoop for the hosts, who outscored their guests 43-23 in the second half. 

The third quarter was the big one for the Eagles.  They tallied the first eight points and were ahead the rest of the game. In the third period, they sank 8 of their 14 field goal shots, including 3 of 4 three-pointers, and hit 8 of 10 free throws for a total of 27 points, making it their second-most productive quarter of the season. The surge put the Eagles ahead 47-29 entering the fourth stanza, and they led by at least 15 points the rest of the way.

The Eagles shot just 29 percent from the field in the first half, making only 9 of 31 attempts. In the second half, however, CSC sunk 14 of 30 field goal attempts for 46.7 percent shooting. 

Tanabe was the Eagles' top scorer with 11 points while fellow guards Allison Richards and Kadyn Comer each finished with 10. After Tanabe's long three as the first half was ending, Richards hit two treys and Comer one in the decisive third period. Center McKenzi Petersen added nine points and another guard, Liberty Line, had eight for the hosts.  

Two more Eagles also reached double figures as rebounders. Both Kylie Krise and Bati Assefa grabbed 10, leading CSC to a 49-39 advantage off the glass. 

Westminster's leading scorer and rebounder was senior Maunayia Harrigfeld with 14 points and eight caroms. She scored 11 points in the first half. Teammate Maia Rhay finished with 10 points. 

For the game, Chadron State shot 23-for-61 from the field for 37.7 percent and the Griffins were 16-for-63 for 25.4 percent. CSC made 4 of 24 shots from behind the arc and Westminster only 1 of 22. The Eagles were 13-for-16 at the free throw line. The Utah team was 10-for-14. 

Chadron State outscored the visitors 38-24 in the paint and received 37 points from their bench compared to only eight bench points for Westminster.

The Eagles are now 3-12 for the season and Westminster is 3-14.  Both are 2-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  CSC will be at home again Saturday afternoon to play Colorado Mesa (12-4, 7-2 RMAC).

CHADRON, Neb. – Esther Peters added an accolade to a fantastic freshman season when she was named as the RMAC Women's Wrestler of the Week by the conference office Tuesday.

Peters, a true freshman from McKinney, Texas, had an undefeated weekend across a dual with No. 9-ranked Colorado Mesa last Friday and the York Open last Saturday, with Peters not even allowing a point to be scored against her while defeating one nationally ranked and two regionally ranked opponents. 

On Friday, Peters defeated CMU's Isabeau Shalack 8-0 to cap off Chadron State's dual against the Mavericks. Peters scored four points in each period against Shalack, a former All-American who entered the bout ranked No. 9 in the country at 207 pounds. 

The following day, Peters took home the title at 207 pounds in the York Open in York, Nebraska, her second tournament title of the season after previously winning the Chadron State Women's Open in December. 

Peters was dominant in York, winning her semifinal match by fall in just two-and-a-half minutes and then winning the championship bout via a 10-0 tech fall over Fort Hays State's Grace Johns. 

Peters, who entered the week ranked No. 5 overall in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA)'s regional rankings, defeated the No. 2 (Shalack) and No. 4 (Johns) wrestlers just this week.

The RMAC Wrestler of the Week award is the first in Peters' career and the first of the season for Chadron State women's wrestling. The Eagles last won on January 30, 2024 when Ana Rojas-Zamora took home the honor. 

Chadron State women's wrestling will be at home this Friday, January 24 against Sioux Falls at 5 p.m. It will be Senior Night for the Eagles. Chadron State will then have its final RMAC dual on the road against Adams State on January 30 before the RMAC Championships the following day on February 1.

OMAHA, Neb. –&nbsp;The&nbsp;Omaha Supernovas (2-2)&nbsp;fell to the San Diego Mojo (2-2) in four sets (25-20, 19-25, 22-25, 22-25) Sunday afternoon at the&nbsp;CHI Health Center&nbsp;in front of&nbsp;12,723,&nbsp;ranking as the&nbsp;second-highest attendance match in U.S. Pro Volleyball history.

Third-year pro&nbsp;Brooke Nuneviller&nbsp;continued her dominant start to the season with a match-high 24 points with 22 kills on a .236 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs for her sixth-straight double-double, which dates back to last season. Former Nebraska Cornhusker and USC Trojan&nbsp;Ally Batenhorst&nbsp;contributed 12 kills in her first career pro start while&nbsp;Reagan Cooper&nbsp;added nine kills.

Another Husker alum,&nbsp;Lindsay Krause, excelled off the bench, delivering six kills on an outstanding .750 hitting percentage. Setter&nbsp;Natalia Valentín-Anderson&nbsp;orchestrated the offense with 44 assists and added a match-high 21 digs on the defensive end.&nbsp;Libero Camila Gómez&nbsp;posted nine digs and eight assists.&nbsp;

Kayla Caffey&nbsp;led Supernovas middle blockers with eight kills on a .368 clip while recording one block.&nbsp;Kaitlyn Hord&nbsp;chipped in four kills of her own on a .444 hitting percentage while also adding two more blocks to her PVF-leading 16 stuffs.&nbsp;

The Supernovas finished the match with a .250 hitting percentage, five blocks and one ace.

The Mojo’s victory was powered by six-year veteran Kendra Dahlke, who delivered an impressive 18 kills on a .356 hitting percentage. Middle blocker and Oregon product Ronika Stone followed with nine kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while setter Da-yeong Lee made a significant impact with 46 assists and 14 digs.

Omaha takes a five-day break before traveling to Ohio to take on the Columbus Fury on Friday, January 24 at Nationwide Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CST and will be broadcasted live on the PVF YouTube Channel. It can also be heard on the Supernovas Radio Network.

The Supernovas are back at the&nbsp;CHI Health Center&nbsp;on Friday, January 31 when they face the Fury for the second-straight match with first serve set for 7 p.m. CST in downtown Omaha.&nbsp;

Set 1:&nbsp;The match began with San Diego’s Regan Pittman delivering the opening kill. Nuneviller and Cooper answered with back-to-back kills, helping Omaha take an early lead at 2-1. Cooper followed with her team-leading fifth ace of the season. The Novas extended their advantage to 9-3 thanks to contributions from Nuneviller, Batenhorst, Cooper and a series of errors by San Diego. The Mojo got within three, Batenhorst and Hord went back-to-back with a kill and block to extend the advantage to 14-8. Lee posted a block on a Nuneviller attack before a Jenaisya Moore kill cut the lead to 17-15. Another service error by the Mojo, followed by a Nuneviller tally put the lead back to four at 19-15. Dahlke put away her third kill of the set to make it 22-20, but the Supernovas rallied for a 3-0 run to end the set, capped off by another Nuneviller kill for a 25-20 set win. Her and Cooper ultimately took control, both recording seven kills for the set while the team hit .250 compared to the Mojo’s .243.

Set 2:&nbsp;The set began with a Mojo hitting error, giving the Supernovas an early lead. Pittman followed with a kill of her own for San Diego. The set was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading kills. A quick 2-0 burst by a Mojo service error and a Hord block put the Supernovas up 10-8. Dahlke tied the set later at 12 with her fifth kill of the match. Tied at 14, San Diego put together a key 3-0 run thanks to back-to-back kills from Moore and Blackwell with a Batenhorst hitting error. The momentum continued to shift in the Mojo’s favor when Moore delivered two more crucial kills, Stone capitalizing on a slide attack, and a series of Supernovas errors, allowing the Mojo to pull ahead 19-16. Omaha couldn’t recover from the small deficit, as the Mojo ran off with a 5-2 run to secure the set at 25-19.&nbsp;

Nuneviller led Omaha with four kills while the team hit a high clip of .312, but San Diego was unstoppable with five kills from Dahlke and a .500 clip.&nbsp;

Set 3:&nbsp;The Supernovas started the third set with two kills by Batenhorst and one by Nuneviller, giving them an early 3-2 lead. The Mojo quickly answered with kills from Lauren Page and Ronika Stone to reclaim momentum. A series of errors by Omaha allowed San Diego to pull ahead 15-11, forcing the Supernovas to call a timeout. The stoppage didn’t help as the action continued with Stone recording another kill on a slide to complete a 6-1 run. The Mojo continued to extend their lead with another 5-1 run off a Stone kill, two from Dahlke and a kill from Rainelle Jones to go up 22-15. Omaha made an adjustment bringing in Krause late in the set, but San Diego maintained their edge. Stone, who hit an impressive .500 in the set, sealed the victory with a decisive kill, giving the Mojo a 25-22 victory.

Set 4:&nbsp;Lauren Page began the set with a kill, carrying the Mojo’s momentum from the previous sets. Batenhorst quickly responded with a kill to tie the score at deuces. San Diego extended its lead to 7-4 with a pair of kills from Dahlke. Nuneviller answered with two kills of her own to keep Omaha within striking distance, but another kill by Dahlke forced the Supernovas to call a timeout with the score at 15-11. Despite a late push by Omaha, with Nuneviller, Caffey and Krause each contributing two kills, the Supernovas couldn’t fully recover from the early deficit. The Mojo held their ground and closed out the set with a 25-22 victory, securing the match.

Dahlke was once again the leading attacker for the Mojo, delivering six kills on a .545 clip. Nuneviller matched that total with six while Krause hammered four kills on six swings for a .667 hitting percentage.

KCOW Radio Sports Schedule (Week of January 20th)

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – In a game that needed all 40 minutes of regulation, all five minutes of overtime and several minutes of a video review to decide, Chadron State men's basketball lost at the buzzer to New Mexico Highlands, falling 97-96 in overtime Saturday evening. 

After Jalen Thomas's turn-around jumper gave Chadron a 96-94 lead with 23 seconds remaining in overtime, Highlands kept the final play alive with an offensive rebound after a miss and kicked out to Kyrie Thomas, who released a three-pointer just as the horn sounded that went through the net. 

The basket counted on the floor, but officials spent several minutes at the replay monitor trying to verify if Thomas released the shot before the buzzer. As the game hung in the balance, the crew upheld their original call to set off wild celebrations in the John A. Wilson Complex. 

The Eagles came up short despite a career-high 34 points from Zy Wright, who finished a magnificent 11-for-16 from the field, including 4-for-7 from three and 8-for-9 from the line. Thomas added 22 points and finished just shy of a double-double with nine assists. 

With the loss, Chadron State drops to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in RMAC play. New Mexico Highlands, which had lost seven of eight prior to the last-second win, improved to 8-8 overall and 1-7 in the RMAC. 

The result marks the second consecutive matchup that New Mexico Highlands defeated Chadron State in overtime, as the Cowboys won 90-82 in OT in Chadron last season. It is also the second time this year that Chadron State has lost at the buzzer, with Texas A&amp;M-Kingsville previously beating the Eagles 73-71 at the last second, also in overtime.

Chadron State held the lead for 63.7 percent of the game, but the two teams battled back-and-forth down the stretch of regulation and for the entire overtime period, with seven ties and 12 lead changes overall. 

The Eagles led by three points at halftime and as many as 13 with six minutes to play, but the Cowboys closed the gap with a 10-0 run to make it 75-72 with three-and-a-half minutes to go. 

Wright, who had 17 points in the first half, continued to be a go-to option down the stretch for Chris Francis's squad, hitting a layup plus the and-one free throw to give CSC an 80-76 lead and become the first Eagle with a 30-point game this season. 

Highlands instantly flipped the script, however, hitting a three, generating a turnover and driving for a fastbreak layup to take an 81-80 lead. Jalen Thomas answered with an and-one layup to put CSC up 83-82, but Kyrie Thomas hit what turned out to be the first of two huge three-pointers to give the Cowboys an 85-83 lead with under a minute left. 

Kyrie Thomas finished only 2-for-14 from the field in the game, but both his makes were three-pointers to give NMHU the lead with under 45 seconds in either regulation or overtime. 

Wright sent the game to an extra period with a driving layup with 19 seconds to go, and Highlands missed a three at the regulation buzzer. The Eagles jumped out to a five-point lead early in overtime courtesy of a Jalen Thomas basket and Trey Ballard three, but again, the Cowboys clawed back. 

With the score tied at 92-92, Thomas hit baskets on CSC's final two trips down the floor, but the Cowboys answered with first a game-tying basket and then the game-winning buzzer beater. 

The Eagles shot 58 percent from the field, 45.8 percent from three (11-24) and 81.3 percent from the line (13-16). New Mexico Highlands shot 43 percent from the field, 34 percent from deep and 86 percent from the stripe. The Cowboys outrebounded CSC 40-30 and the Eagles were plagued by 18 turnovers, five more than the home team. 

Chadron State will be back in the Chicoine Center next weekend to take on Westminster and Colorado Mesa. CSC's game with Westminster will tip off Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
