The Spartans defense committed four errors, leading to a pair of unearned runs.&nbsp; Kirk Sanders and Jakob Callan each pitched four innings for Alliance combining to give up 10 hits but walk just four.

Collins Schrawyer had two hits but Alliance was not able to drive in any runs with the bats, leaving seven men on base.

Gering had the game won before Wheatland had a chance to bat taking a 10-0 lead into the bottom of the first inning.&nbsp; Gering led 17-1 after two innings and the game was called after the fourth.

The hitting stars were everywhere for Gering: Dalton Wiese went 4/5 with four RBIs.&nbsp; Chris Bliss drove in four runs. Tristan Strauch was 3/3 with three runs scored and Keegan Shifflet drove in two runs and had two hits.

Ryan Johnston pitched all four innings and allowed seven hits.&nbsp; Only one of Wheatland's five runs was earned.

Gering SRs 15, Buckley (Chappell) 7

An eight-run bottom of the sixth won it for Gering 15-7, busting open a tie game.&nbsp; Five walks, three Chappell errors and three singles led the outpouring of offense in the final frame.

The teams combined for eleven errors in the game, six for the Bombers and five on Gering's side.

Riley Gaudreault went 2/4 with four RBIs for Gering.&nbsp; Jarrod Beamon drove in a pair of runs.

Corbin Murphy had three RBIs for Chappell including a pair of doubles.

Scottsbluff scored in the opening inning then added five more in the second to take a 6-1 lead. Jerod Balthazor had a pair of hits and drove in four runs.&nbsp; Creighton Dike brought in three runs with the bat.&nbsp; Chris Snelling had a 2/3 day at the plate.

Dike and Balthazor combined on the mound for the win.&nbsp; Dike got the start and limited Chappell to one hit in two innings.&nbsp; Balthazor took over and gave up just three hits.

Alliance led 8-4 after two innings and held off Sheridan County's fifth inning rally to win 10-7 Thursday night.

Mario Garcia drove in four Alliance runs on his 2/4 night.&nbsp; Eli Blanco had three of the Spartans 12 hits.

Sheridan County was led by Harley Bayne at the plate with his 3/4 night and two RBIs.

Alliance improves to 9-4 while Sheridan County slips to 5-5 this summer.

Chadron started the extended holiday weekend with a spark in the final inning to walk-off the Scottsbluff JRs 5-4.&nbsp; After being hit by a pitch and with two outs, Jordan Bissonette stole second base and later scored on a single by Trey Williamson to win the game.

Scottsbluff had built a 3-0 lead in the third inning and kept Chadron scoreless until the Nationals plated their first run in the fifth.&nbsp; The Nationals took a brief 4-3 lead with three runs in the sixth but allowed Scottsbluff to even it up in the top of the final inning before the comeback win.

Shane Frye limited Scottsbluff to only two hits in the game and struck out 13 in his complete seven-inning performance.

Seth Gaswick went 2/2 and drove in two Chadron runs.

The RMAC released an official statement late Thursday afternoon on its timeline to make decisions on the future of fall sports seasons amid the coronavirus pandemic.

&nbsp;"The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Presidents Council has set&nbsp;July 17th&nbsp;to be the date by which decisions will be made concerning any COVID-19 related modifications to the RMAC’s Fall sports schedule. This date has been selected in consideration of the evolving landscape of knowledge and local, state and national guidelines related to COVID-19 as well as the desire to provide clarity to our student athletes as far in advance of the start of the fall semester as possible."

So, two weeks from Friday (July 3) Chadron State fans could know if the Eagles will kickoff the football season at home on September 5.&nbsp; Options on how fall schedules could change haven't been released publicly.&nbsp; Once the conference makes its decision it's not known if it will be released to the public that day, but it presumably will be, if not very soon after.

Cross country, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball are also played in the fall and could have their schedules altered if league officials and school administration across the conference determine it's a safety risk to compete as normal.

We will continue to monitor the situation and let fans know as soon as we do as to what the status of the CSC fall seasons will be.

first. Sheridan County clawed back to within
10-8 in the fourth, but Alliance added five runs to go up 15-8 the next inning
and stay in front for good.

Leading the Alliance offense was Kellon Muhr who had a perfect 3/3 night with two RBIs and three runs scored.&nbsp; Mario Garcia had three hits.&nbsp; Five Spartans drove in two runs.

Sheridan County's Jace Freeseman paced the Regulator offense with three hits including a triple and Harley Bayne tabbed three RBIs.

The Regulators record slips to 6-5. Alliance is now 8-4.

The Sidney Juniors clipped Gering 6-5 withstanding a Gering comeback in the final inning.&nbsp; Trailing 6-3 in the seventh Gering drew a
walk, got to within 6-4 on an RBI triple, which was followed by an RBI double that made
it 6-5.&nbsp; With traffic still on the bases
Sidney wriggled off the hook on a grounder to end it.

Sidney's Micah Schneider was excellent on the mound with five innings of no-hit ball, but gave up two earned runs and walked five.&nbsp; Gering was able to scratch three runs off Sawyer Dickman before Ben Hashman came on to finish the final two outs.

Keagan Shifflet went the distance for Gering allowing ten hits in seven innings.&nbsp; The defense behind him had some struggles, giving up six errors.&nbsp; Fortunately, only one unearned run scored to keep Gering in the game.

Jacob Dowse led Sidney with two RBIs and Schneider had a 3/3 night at the dish with a run scored.

(AP) The NFL will cut its preseason in half and push back the start of exhibition play so teams have more time to train following an all virtual offseason made necessary by the coronavirus pandemic, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the league hasn’t announced that the preseason will be cut from four games to two.

The pandemic forced teams to conduct their entire offseason programs via videoconference. So, teams will be gathering together for the first time when training camps open July 28.

Minus the usual minicamps, on-field practices and in-person weight training from April to June, players’ conditioning won’t be what it normally is. So, eliminating the first week of preseason games Aug. 13-16 will give them more time to ratchet up their football fitness.

Teams will now play exhibitions Aug. 20-24 and Aug. 27-31 during what were originally the second and third weeks of exhibition play with all 32 teams playing one home and one road game.

Most of those games will remain the same as originally scheduled although some matchups in that second slate will have to be changed so every team gets a game at home.

The exhibition finales on Sept. 3 were also scrapped, giving teams more time to get ready for the regular season, which opens Sept. 10 with Houston at Kansas City.

There are no changes to the regular season schedule.

The league continues to draw up protocols, not only for COVID-19 mitigation but for ramping up practices during the first few weeks of training camp.

The annual Hall of Fame Game pitting Pittsburgh and Dallas on Aug. 6 was recently scrapped as the induction ceremonies were pushed back to 2021.

Chadron notched 14 hits and drew six walks led by a big night from Garrett Reece who was 3/3 with five RBIs and four runs scored.&nbsp; Seth Gaswick was 2/3 with four RBIs.

Alliance ripped open a 3-1 game in the third inning with eight runs to defeat Chadron 11-1 Tuesday night.&nbsp; A two-run single from&nbsp; EJ Gomez made it 8-1 following up RBI hits from Trevor DuBray and Caeson Clarke in the big inning.

Kirk Sanders and Brantz Halouska combined on the mound for the win allowing only two hits and walking two.

Gering scored eight runs in the first two innings in a win over Bridgeport.  Riley Gaudreault went 3/3 at the plate with three RBIs for Gering.  

Quinton Janicek threw all three innings of the shortened contest on the mound and allowed just four Bridgeport hits and struck out three.

Gering is 5-5 this summer, while Bridgeport falls to 3-12.

Gering led 4-0 after one and 10-1 after two innings of its victory over Bridgeport Tuesday.&nbsp; 

Gering got on the board with a bases-loaded walk for the first run, then added three more three different ways - a single, ground out and error.&nbsp; Keenan Allen doubled home two for a 6-0 lead in the second inning followed by another run-scoring error.&nbsp; Keagan Shifflet capitalized after a single and a walk with an RBI single to make it 8-0.&nbsp; Two more would score on a walk and hit-by-pitch as Gering built a 10-0 lead.

Allen and Ryan Johnston handled the pitching duties and struck out eight Bridgeport hitters.&nbsp; The combo allowed five hits.

Scout Gamble and Larry Lofton had multi-hit games for Bridgeport.

&nbsp;A Chadron State College football recruit who has Chadron ties has received a major honor from the National Football Foundation.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dax Yeradi of Wright, Wyo., is one of 82 recent high school graduates from across the country who have been placed on the National Football Foundation’s 2020 Team of Distinction. Those selected are recognized for their combined performances on the football field, in the classroom and in the community.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Team of Distinction is part of the foundation’s mission to promote the scholar-athlete ideal by honoring the best and the brightest, according to the news release making the announcement.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As part of the award, all of the honorees will be included in the permanent digital display at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

Dax Yeradi was a first-team all-state football selection each of the past three years while playing quarterback and safety for Wright High School.

As a senior in the fall of 2019, Yeradi was a Casper Star-Tribune Super 25 selection, was named the Powder River Conference Player of the Year and set the Wyoming All-Class State Record for most defensive points in a season with 331.&nbsp; His defensive highlights last fall included 151 tackles and four interceptions.

As the Wright High quarterback, he ran for 1,251 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2019.&nbsp; He also had passed for 301 yards and a TD.&nbsp;

During his career, Yeradi participated in 412 tackles and had 16 interceptions.&nbsp; He ran for 2,090 yards and 31 TDs, threw for 2,006 yards and 18 TDs, had 5,515 all-purpose yards and scored 204 points.

Dax is expected to play defensive back for the Eagles.&nbsp;

He was coached as Wright High by his father, Larry Yeradi, who intercepted eight passes to set the Chadron High school record as a senior in the fall of 1983. The record was tied by Charles Mann in 1998.&nbsp;

Besides starring in football, he was the Class 2A state champion 160-pound wrestler as a junior in 2019 when he had a 28-3 record.&nbsp; He also placed fifth and second at the state tourney during his wrestling career.

A year ago this spring, Yeradi won the Class 2A pole vault championship at the Wyoming State Meet by clearing 14 feet, 1 inch. He placed third at state the previous year.

In addition, he graduated with a 3.96 grade point average, was academic all-state and a member of the National Honor Society and student council.&nbsp;

The 34-year-old Desmond wrote on Instagram that the “COVID-19 pandemic has made this baseball season one that is a risk I am not comfortable taking.”

Chadron came back from a 4-2 deficit late with five runs to outlast the Scottsbluff Prep Freshman 7-6.

A sacrifice fly made it 4-3 Scottsbluff in the sixth when Shane Frye added another run to tie it with a single.&nbsp; Scottsbluff scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball in the seventh and took a 6-4 lead on Jaxson Orozco's single.

Chadron got started quickly in the seventh with runners on base via a hit-by-pitch and three consecutive walks that included a run coming across on a passed ball to make it 6-5.&nbsp; Ryan Vahrenkamp singled in the tying run and Chadron won it in the next at-bat when Broc Berry scored on another passed ball.

The win evened Chadron's season record at 5-5.

Scottsbluff launched out to an 8-2 lead after two innings Sunday in a rout over Laramie.

After the first three batters reached on hit-by-pitches and a single in the second Hunter McCollum singled home the first of seven runs in the frame. Creighton Dike doubled home a pair for a 6-1 lead and Jace Heimerman doubled home two more to make it 8-1 Zephyrs.

Jerod Balthazor, KJ Hartline and Andon Pittman each had three Zephyr RBIs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Tate Carson pitched four of five innings and held Laramie to four runs on eight hits.

Laramie won the second game of the day by the exact same score, 14-4.&nbsp; Laramie scored two in the first and broke open a 4-0 game with three more in the fourth to go up 7-0 before finishing it off with five runs in the fifth after Scottsbluff had cut the lead to 9-4.

Laramie out-hit Scottsbluff 12-5 and the Z's defense committed five errors.&nbsp; Only three of Laramie's first nine runs were earned off Z's starter Creighton Dike.

Derrick Squires went 2/4 with four RBIs for Laramie.&nbsp; Caleb Eaton was 3/4 with a pair of RBIs. Eaton allowed only five hits over 5 2/3 innings on the mound and struck out five Scottsbluff hitters.&nbsp; He walked eight.

Scottsbluff is 2-6 this summer and hosts Gering tonight at Cleveland Field with 7:30 the set time for first pitch.

Buckley held Gering to two hits in a shutout Sunday.

Xander Speicher worked around five walks and struck out seven on the mound for the Bombers to earn the win in a six-inning start.&nbsp; Gering's second inning started promising with back-to-back singles but Speicher struck out the next two hitters and forced a ground out with the bases loaded to end the threat.&nbsp; Gering wouldn't get a hit the rest of the game.

The Bombers opened up a scoreless game with three runs in the fourth inning.&nbsp; Two singles began the frame followed by a one-out double from Corbin Murphy that scored two.&nbsp; Logan Kerr singled home Murphy and that's all Buckley would need to win.

Buckley won the second game of the doubleheader on a walkoff error in the bottom of the seventh, 8-7.&nbsp; Dillon Harshman's grounder to third was mishandled allowing Davon Wolf to score the winning run and cap a three-run comeback after trailing 7-5 with three outs to play.

It was a close game throughout - Buckley led 3-0 after one before Gering tied it 3-3 in the third.&nbsp; Both teams added a run in the fifth before Gering took a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth on Riley Hoke's two run home run.

&nbsp;What started out as a defensive game and
scoreless tie through four innings quickly took off between Gering and
Casper.&nbsp; Gering started the frame with
five runs, Casper answered with seven, and all of the sudden it was 7-5 Casper
heading into the back end of the contest.

Gering still had some electricity in the
bats – Jarred Beamon cranked a two-run homer in the seventh to tie it at seven,
and Riley Schanamen launched a two-run homer later in the inning to give Gering
a 9-7 lead and they would go on to win 9-8.

Ducks pitcher Urbano Marquez threw a complete game victory and held Alliance to only five hits.&nbsp; Marquez struck out five and didn't walk a batter, throwing a very efficient 73 pitches in his seven innings.

Mario Garcia had the most success for the Alliance lineup with a pair of hits, but Alliance couldn't get anything other than singles off Marquez.

Collin Schrawyer pitched into the fourth inning as the Alliance starter and yielded three runs with three strikeouts.&nbsp; Trevor DuBray struck out four in his 2 1/3 innings.

Gillette was consistent throughout the first four innings, adding runs each frame to build the lead and no-hitting Alliance Thursday.

Hayden Sylte pitched the complete game, a Perfect Game, not allowing any hits, walks, hit batters or errors defensively.&nbsp; He struck out five Spartans and didn't walk a batter.&nbsp; It took just 53 pitches to get the job done.

Gillette took the early lead 2-0 after one, added another in the second, and two more in the third before a three-run fourth inning put the game well out of reach.

Six runs in the sixth inning turned a scoreless tie&nbsp; into a rout Thursday.&nbsp; Imperial went up 6-0, which was plenty of run support by limiting Ogallala to just three hits in the game.

Scoreless in the top of the fourth inning, Alliance took the lead on a passed ball and immediately added another run on a sacrifice fly to go up 2-0.&nbsp; Leading 2-1, Alliance plated another run on a passed ball in the seventh inning and retired Gering in order in the bottom half to win its sixth game of the summer.

Chase King nearly pitched a complete game allowing just five Gering hits, striking out five and not walking a batter.&nbsp; Trevor DuBray threw five pitches and struck out the final batter to close the deal.

Gering's Riley Schanaman tossed all seven innings and gave up just three hits and one earned run.&nbsp; He struck out seven.

Alliance improves to 6-3. Gering falls to 2-3 overall.

Alliance handed the Gering JRs their second straight loss with a hot start and then squeaked out the finish.

Leading 1-0, Eli Blanco knocked a two-run single to put Alliance up 3-0 in the top of the first. Blanco finished the game with three RBIs.

Later with Alliance up 7-1 in the sixth Gering made a furious rally, scoring four times.&nbsp; A walk and back-to-back doubles cut two runs off the Alliance lead making it 7-3.&nbsp; Following a strikeout, Tanner Gartner singled in a run and Keenan Allen doubled him home but was thrown out trying to advance to third.&nbsp; Trailing 7-5, a ground out ended the threat and Gering dropped to 1-4 this summer.

Sheridan County hosted Chadron and used a strong sixth inning to close out the Nationals.&nbsp; Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the frame Jace Freeseman led off with a triple and came around to score on a wild pitch.&nbsp; Following an error and walk the Regulators added runs on a ground out and a fielder's choice to lead 6-2.&nbsp; Traiton Starr singled in the seventh run of the game and Chadron could only climb one closer with a run in the top half.

The Regulators are 5-2 and have won five straight since dropping the first two games of the summer to Chadron.

Sidney started the game with runs in each of the first three innings then put the game away late with a four-spot in the sixth to win over Bridgeport 9-1.

Sawyer Dickman and Sam Hashman each had two RBIs for Sidney.&nbsp; Tommy Ellwanger started on the mound and went 3 1/3 innings with five strikeouts and allowed just one hit and a run.

Kohlton Kriha started for Bridgeport and threw all six innings, allowing nine hits, nine runs (five earned) and struck out five.

Twelve runs and 12 hits were plenty for the Sidney JRs in their win over Bridgeport 12-2 Wednesday.

Sidney plated seven in the first inning and built an 11-0 lead after two innings. The big blow came from Luke Kasten with a two-run double to make it 4-0 in the first.&nbsp; Sidney added runs on five singles in the first two frames.

Ty Stettner, Kurtis Gadway and Nolan Hoffrock combined to limit Bridgeport to just four hits, and the Bombers struck out six times.

Kasten led the Sidney hitting attack with a 3/3 day, the aforementioned double, triple and two RBIs.&nbsp; He came within a homerun of the cycle.&nbsp; Ben Hashman drove in two runs on two hits.

Sam Uyemura drove in two runs with two hits and both players doubled.Buckley (Chappell) SRs 8, USA Prime Colorado Springs 6The third inning provided big excitement in game two where Buckley busted through to erase a big deficit and go on to sweep the double-dip.USA Prime jumped out to a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third. Following a walk and fielder's choice, Prime came through with back-to-back RBI singles then added a run on an error at third base.Then it was Buckley's turn. Sam Uyemura tripled in a runner who reached on a hit-by-pitch to start the inning.&nbsp; Stunningly, a second hit-batter came around to touch home plate on another triple right afterwards - this time off the bat of Blake Mosenteen to tie the game 4-4.&nbsp; Buckley took the lead on JT Pollart's double 5-4, added their sixth run on a passed ball, and never trailed again.Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh Buckley scored the go-ahead run on a ground out and went on to win 8-6.Davon Wolf and Mosenteen each had two RBIs for the Bombers who are now 8-1 this summer.
