LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) is issuing the following statement regarding a criminal case that has received news media coverage this week:
The PSC identified and reported suspected fraudulent activity involving an online payment portal in June 2024 and worked promptly with authorities to investigate the matter.
Because this is an active criminal case, the Commission cannot comment further on the details and would refer additional questions to the Nebraska State Patrol.
Since the incident, the PSC has reviewed and updated internal processes and worked with the State of Nebraska’s website vendor to enhance payment security measures. There is no indication that the incident affected any regulated entities, ratepayers or the Commission’s regulatory functions.
