A BNSF train derailed multiple coal cars in the Panhandle.
At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 31 a BNSF train derailed four coal cars near 9th Avenue and Sugar Factory Road in Scottsbluff.
The coal cars remained upright.
"BNSF crews were able to repair the mainline, which opened for normal operations this morning," said Courtney Wallace, BNSF Spokeswoman. "Heavy equipment was used to help re-rail the cars."
Wallace said there were no injuries to any BNSF employees or crews.
An investigation is underway by BNSF.
