On Aug. 21 at approximately 4 p.m. the Scottsbluff Police Department responded to an accident at the intersection of Avenue B and Highway 26.

A white 2019 Toyota 4Runner driven by 62-year-old Mark Boles of Hilham, TN crashed into a blue 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by 30-year-old Alex Jines of Alliance.

"The investigation found that the Mitsubishi was west bound on Highway 26 and the 4Runner was south bound on Avenue B, prior to entering the intersection," Scottsbluff Police Sgt. Steven Lopez said. "Witnesses reported the traffic signal was green for east/west bound traffic on Highway 26 at the time of the accident. The Mitsubishi entered the intersection and the 4Runner failed to stop at the red traffic signal for south bound traffic on Ave B. The Mitsubishi and 4Runner collided in the intersection."

The intersection of Avenue B and Highway 26 was closed for approximately one hour.

Jines and two juvenile passengers were transported to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff by Valley Ambulance for minor injuries.

Boles suffered minor injury and refused medical treatment.

Boles was issued a citation for the traffic signal violation.

Both vehicles were total losses and towed from the scene.

Scottsbluff Fire Department and Valley Ambulance assisted in the response.
