As a member of NLC’s Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee, Mayor Dafney will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before members of Congress, with the President’s administration, and at home.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are a key tool for gathering insights directly from the communities that our members serve,” said NLC President Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, Washington. “I am excited to have Mayor Dafney serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee and look forward to working with him to ensure every city, town and village in this nation has the resources they need to thrive.” We have benefited over the years from the sound council of Mayor Dafney who spent his career in train service. Mayor Dafney’s council was most helpful on NLC’s position that two members of a train crew be present on a train. Mayor Dafney has also represented NLC on rail safety and hazardous material movement.

This year’s Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee will be led by Chair Kate Kruller, Councilmember, Tukwila, Washington; Vice Chair Vanessa Fuentes, City Councilwoman, Austin, Texas; and Vice Chair Dan Kealey, City Councilman, Burnsville, Minnesota.
