Alliance, NE – At their August 4th meeting, the Alliance City Council approved the necessary funds to repair the Central Park Fountain. Unfortunately, the Central Park Fountain remains temporarily out of service following a significant main water line failure that caused extensive damage to the fountain's electrical and mechanical equipment.
The unexpected failure allowed water into the area of the fountain that houses operational equipment and electrical control systems. As a result, vital equipment was damaged, which resulted in the fountain being shut down.
Due to the extent of the damage and the time required to obtain replacement parts and complete repairs, the City anticipates the fountain will remain offline for at least another month. City staff understands the Central Park Fountain is a valued feature of the community and a popular summer gathering place for residents and visitors, so they continue to work diligently to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.
