Judith (Judi) Elaine Freed, age 74, of Chadron, Nebraska. Graveside services will be held September 6, 2023, 10:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery. Judi passed away Thursday morning, August 24, 2023, at Hemingford Community Center, after living there for several years. She was a resident near Chadron, and lived on Slim Buttes Road, with her husband John and remained there until his passing in 2008.
Judi was born September 11, 1948 in Dalton, Georgia, the second child of Marion Billy and June Delores (McCandless) Bramblett. She had six more siblings that followed, soon after.
Judi had a heart of gold. During her husband’s illness, she would drive him to and from his many’ doctors appointments. She helped him with his chemotherapy treatments. On his good days they might decide to go for a ride, just to take a look at the countryside, just to see if anything had changed from the week before. While on that drive if they were close to Prairie Winds Casino (so much better) to have a bite of lunch and maybe even win a little on the way.
Judi enjoyed reading, watching TV, star gazing but most of all she adored her two cats. Blackie and Smokey. After John’s Passing, they helped her through her grieving process.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Henry Freed, daughter Shellie Jave Poteet, sisters; Faye Corn, Marsha Babb. Her brothers; Jamie Bramblett, Bruce Bramblett, Bobby Bramblett, and Billy Bramblett.
Judi is survived by her son Phillip Jade Poteet and his children of Pleasant Grove, Georgia. Stepson’s; Christophe J. and Phillipe Freed both from San Diego, California. Sister; Cindy Sayer Boland, of Blue Ridge Georgia. She has many nieces, nephews and friends.
