At its Jan. 24 meeting Chadron City Council approved plans and specifications for the East Tank Recoating Project. This resolution will also authorize a notice to bidders.

Chadron City Manager John Sutherland said this is a water tank project that has been in the works for council.

"It's a project that's needed to be done for some time," Sutherland said. "We knew it was coming on a critical stage and we're able to take action and take care of the problem. It's one of the city's main water tanks. It supplies the good amount of the water we use in the city. It's a critical piece of our infrastructure."

Sutherland said the city will be receiving America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to help with this project.

"...Funds that were generated from the federal government for relief during COVID pandemic," Sutherland said. "The city is going to invest those funds very heavily, specifically on water system repair or replacement and renewal. So, we've got those plans and specs in place. We'll issue an RFP (Request for Proposal) and get this thing out for construction."
