ALLIANCE, Neb. – Gardening is a hobby shared by many, providing the benefits of bountiful flowers and produce, and contributes to a happy, healthy lifestyle. As with many hobbies, becoming masterful takes time and effort to become knowledgeable. The Alliance Public Library Garden Club provides information from experts to help answer your gardening and plant questions. Upcoming events and speakers are a source of education and are enjoyable, too. Be sure to join us for any or all of our upcoming scheduled garden club events.

May 28 – John Thomas from the extension service will be getting into the nitty-gritty of compost, sharing methods to establish and maintain your own compost, the benefits of composting and common mistakes that can be avoided

June 11 -Everything is coming up roses with Dave Ocken, who will be sharing his tips in this program on rose care and maintenance, and some additional special information.

June 25 – Learn what’s up with companion gardening, becoming knowledgeable in tried-and-true successful companion plant matches, what plants work best together and the benefits of gardening using this method.

July 9 – Scott and Regina Minich are in the business of plants and will be sharing how to keep your plants healthy and thriving in the program Plant Care Basics 101 in a 2-part series on houseplants.

July 23 – Scott will be returning with part two, presenting a program on the propagation of plants and there will be an opportunity for a hands-on demonstration that can be participated in with preregistration.

Garden Club meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month in the Library community room from 5:30-6:30 p.m. No registration is necessary, unless otherwise noted.

There is no cost to attend. The group is open to the public, ages 18 and older.
