House a total loss following Scotts Bluff County fire

   On March 5, 2024 at approximately 4:38pm Scottsbluff Rural Fire Department was dispatched to a fully involved structure fire on Haig Road. Upon arrival of the Fire Chief, the structure was found to be at 75% involvement. Firefighting efforts were challenged with strong wind gusts at the time of the fire. Mutual aid was requested from Mitchell, Gering, Morrill and Lyman.

In the process of extinguishing this fire 114,000 gallons of water was hauled to and used at the scene. Approximately 30 firefighters were on scene. The home and contents were deemed a loss at $1 million. The State Fire Marshall’s Office was on scene to investigate the fire. All units cleared the scene on March 6th at approximately 1am.
